I think the whole Warez thing lives off of people who can't see past the lazy knee-jerk must-have-it-right-now attitude. Jesus, with steam you don't even have to leave your house anymore! And c'mon, who really doubted HL2 would be good?



If you want to know if a game is good, ask a friend, check out reviews online, download a demo. There are plenty legitimate ways.



Anyway I'm glad that all those accounts got banned. Even if only a fraction of those accounts were being used, I'm glad they did it.



And wait, Nighthawk, I don't really understand why you're upset about all this? Is it because of the possibility there have been people accidentally banned? I'm against the death penalty, but I'm all for this...

The Steam support forums are being filled with flaming threads about how people had their accounts falsely disabled and lost all of their legitimately purchased games. Half are doing the right thing and are getting their support tickets and awaiting VALVe's response (they seem rather eager to show their proof of purchase despite the statement that the accounts will not be re-activated), although I have a feeling some people used the hijack patch or something. A quarter of them claim they don't have a CD-Key that ends in specific letters and numbers (some individuals posted the E-mail they received from VALVe, so my account isn't disabled in case you were thinking that).



And the last quarter are plain stupid and plan on taking legal action (one claims he has done enough research and made a thread IN THE STEAM SUPPORT FORUMS in hopes to get more support; needless to say, he was banned within one hour) and are supposedly turning to their lawyers (I think the money they'll pay their lawyers with are more than re-buying the games). And I was actually bored enough to read all that instead of studying for my final exam which is going to happen in one hour.

I am all for banning accounts... it's just sometimes I get worried that they might make a mistake and ban legitimate users. When they announced the 20000+ ban several weeks back, I was quick to make sure my account was still functional. The same for this, I just get worried when they say 'will not be reactivated' and they ban 30000, I mean what if even 1 of those people are legitimate? Then what?
