    Griffin run is the best.

Better hope spoonman doesn't see this thread or there will be 10+ deleted comments for being off-topic.

Shouldn't this be labeled as Sponsored News?

I'd support GriffinRUN, with their suave interactive ads, getting you to defuse a bomb.

you should be plugging companies that NEED the business. like TNGamer.com, Superior-Servers, and many others that give way better quality and technical support + pricing.

Griffenrun & Art of War are all non-personal, they don't talk to you, the treat you like a number "NEXT!"... you should be embracing the smaller companies that know what you want.
I totally agree. Most of the smaller companies are actually better than the other ones and the support is superb.

I was a (full-paying) customer with GriffinRUN a few years back and I their support was top notch.

You'd be surprised how much money this site probably makes.. even from google ads alone.
Well Google ads brought in $273.81 for November, so that mystery is solved!

CSN has made my life a lot easier, and I'm incredibly thankful to my visitors for that. Without CSN I wouldn't be able to live on my own, much less pay for the tuition that my student loans and pell grants don't cover. I'm not buying mounds of grapes for my 14 stripper girlfriends, don't worry. By supporting CSN, you are supporting the college education of one of the stupidest, fattest men alive — me. I salute you all!

Thank you for that moment of levity at midnight.

So over $2,000 a year from one type of ad on the site, not too bad. I know it's not making you millions (or hundreds of thousands for that matter) but I just don't like people pretending nothing is coming in :) -- Still think you guys deserve anything you make, you are providing a good service afterall (csn is the only news site I go to for cs news)

Actually, you're probably smarter than half of the people on this site, so don't take it for granted. The fat part, though...

FPS that high makes no difference. I have read several posts on the hlds_linux and windows mailing lists describing in depth testing at setting the sys_ticrate, adjusting the HZ option in the Linux/BSD kernel, even running a small Flash file in the background for Win32 servers. All these things raise server FPS, but no one could say there was any improvement after 100 FPS. If anything, going to extreme lengths to raise server FPS so high can mean the server is more demanding on the CPU. If the GSP is really tight on resources per server, that may not be a good thing.

My server runs at 100 FPS and dips to 80 from time to time. I get a 23 ping on it from my comcast connection at home and the connection is great.

Server fps is different from client fps. In every server frame half-life works out everything that has to be worked out, like who shot who, where everyone is in the map, etc.

So you send a packet to the server, it takes say 20ms. The server only acts on the packets it receives every server frame, so if you have a server fps of 50, that means that it could take up to a 50th of a second to process your packet (20ms). So your 20ms ping has now doubled to 40ms, thats why the ping you see in the scoreboard is different from the ping you see with net_graph 3. The scoreboard ping takes into account how long it takes for the server to process the packet. net_graph 3 ping shows just a normal hardware ping.

What many fail to realise is, hlds will cap at 512fps. the odd spike above it may occur. Very seldom that it will stick at 512fps on full servers on a selection of maps. Another scam, although i do not doubtthe fps will be high and hence pings will be low and very stable, along with the ever famous "reg" at its best.

Do not be fooled by the 450-600 though.
