[CSN NewsBot]

The new Source server administrative assistant plugin dubbed SourceMod now has a public release section in their forums. There are already four plugins listed that offer a wide variety of actions the server administrator could put to use.



This relatively new plugin looks to give ultimate control to server admins much like AdminMod and AMX Mod did for the pre-Source games. The very basic plugins at current allow the admin to kick, ban, or deal minor punishments with ease. The sad part is, probably 2.5% of cheaters actually get abused by this.

Just a note, this isn't a SourceMod release... we just opened a public place for people to post their HL2 Server Plugins (SourceDS has its own metamod built in). And a few people have already posted things that can do basic administration.



Anyway, the SDK doesn't have a lot of admin abuse power yet so don't be worried :)

I find that admin abuse problems arise because people running servers pick idiots to administrate their servers. The server that I admin on (which is currently down due to ISP problems) has no instances of admin abuse because we select our admins very carefully. Too bad other servers don't do the same.

There is however another problem to overcome. What is the "dumb" admin is actually owner of the server? Then we've got a situation.



But, thank God that most 12 year olds play TFC instead of Counter-Strike!



PS: What's that server's IP. I want to go take a look.
