Kudos to Valve on not only getting that fix out damn quickly, but on releasing this DM mode - unbelieveable mayhem, 18 people charging around flinging shitters at each other, the guns are still useful to pick off guys that can't see around their filing cabinets, all sorts of hilarity going on - brilliant. Couldn't ask for a better diversion from CSS as far as multi goes.Comment

ok my game works like a charm now but ... but...
THE GRAV GUN ONE SHOT KILL IS BOUT LAME AND RETARDED...
sigh... and you cant set up turrents and/or call upon ant lions for help or fun... like get 5 bugbaits... instead of em being infinite ammo...
and get like 2 turrents per side of team based games... be fun... almost like aliens vs predator 2 expansion set online... turrent wars was fun as fuck and hilarious as hell...
i cant believe they put dumb weapons in the game though... as if rocket launcher is gonna help any... if they were gonna put cheapness in the game they mine as well make the gravity gun the super gravity gun so u can fling bodies at people. or just pick people up and chuck them against walls... oOo0oh...
the weapons spawning points coulda used more rework... its hard to run to get weapons of preference... like magnum revolver... then setting a trap in the fan to cut people into bits was a decent idea but over all lame cuz now people camp there so none can get revolver or rocket launcher... no wonder they offering so much money for maps... rofl.
ah well hl2 deathmatch at its current state = 5/10
oh ya and spawnpoints need to be reworked getting spawned killed just about 24-7 is lame as shit. not to mention it looks like they made more health pack spawn points then weaponary... so soon as some one gets full weapons and 3 people couldnt kill em he just goes and reheals kills reheals so on so forth... which makes teamplay as redundantly as fun as deathmatch.
and i havent looked yet because its to hecktic in servers, but does the faces interact like doom3 and/or cs? like when you talk on mic does the mouth move? or when u fire your gun does he or she make a mad pist face?... aka male and female models.

Since people are paying for service without interruption, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect service without interruption. I think it's awesome that Valve has released so much tonight, but it's obvious that a large HL2 engine bug slipped through the cracks. Valve's a very cool company but I think in this case they definitely deseve to be attacked by people who can't play HL2 SP or CS:S. They're customers, not whiners.
I think the issue here is that "real" patches require a publisher testing system. Steam patches don't require publisher approval, and likely have a less stigent QA process. Combine that with the fact that it's impossible to bypass patches released on Steam and you have two strikes against quality assurance. If Valve wants publisher independence, they need to make sure that things like support and QA are handled in-house effectively.
I think Valve screwed up. It really sucks when they screw up, because I really wish the gaming community at large was more supportive of the company and mistakes like this just fume more anger at the company. Because I have deep respect for Valve Software and its employees, I seriously hope they improve their practices a bit so that Steam at large and Half-Life 2 itself foster a large community of happy gamers.Comment
