DoD: Source Media & Lost Coast Delay

Never one to single out Counter-Strike as the only game in the world, we here at CS-Nation would like to pass along word that there's a fresh batch of exclusive Day of Defeat: Source screenshots at Half-Life2.net. Half-Life2.net's Chris_D has generously passed along an image from their exclusive set, that you can view below.

    DoD: Source's Anzio

Tasty new media aside, you may be asking yourself, "what's this about the delay in the Lost Coast?" Simply put, Valve's Doug Lombardi informed Half-Life2.net that the Lost Coast has been delayed until after the release of Day of Defeat: Source. I think my computer just shed a small tear at that news.

I know it's speculation, but I'm telling you, the LC delay is so because of Valve's deal with ATI.. The longer the R520 is delayed, the longer LC will be delayed.. I can see the Steam pop-up with the release of LC already; 'Buy your new ATI here to play Lost Coast like it's meant to be played!'..

But anyway, at least DoD:S will have HDR aswell.. :P

Yeah, if you're waiting for LC because of HDR then you shouldn't be too upset over its delay for DOD:S has the HDR effects as well.

Yeah, it is a bit odd that DOD:S with HDR would be released before Lost Coast, when that is supposed to be the tech showcase. Either way, I'm sure DOD:S will keep you busy long enough to wait for HL2:LC eh?

im going to bet that HDR will be disabled or not even added to DOD:S when its released.

Keep me busy while I wait for LC? Actually I'm not waiting for LC at all, DoD is the main attraction here. After that I'm waiting for Aftermath :)

not everyone will be getting DOD:S. so, with LC, people with bronze edition or HL2 retail could check out the HDR effects without purchasing DOD:S.

Great update. Looks like Valve has been working hard on DOD Source. Doubt my system can run it though.

                      I read that as:

Lost Coast has been delayed until after ATi release their next gen card

But hey, I might be wrong.

In my opinion, you couldn't be more wrong. We already know that The Lost Coast can be run on an ATi x800 and above. If there's already existing hardware that can run TLC sufficiently, then why on earth would they be waiting for it?? There's nothing for them to wait for!!

Absolute crap if you ask me :p

I can't wait to beat Lost Coast in 2 hours. DoD:S is much more of an anticipation.

                            Yeah, that's another thing.

A two map tech demo is NOT going to sell graphics cards!

Even if Valve are trying to do as you say and use TLC to help sell ATI graphics cards, you deserve everything you get! Anyone that goes out to buy a new graphics card based on TLC is absolutely crazy.

You obviously are completly ignorant about the fact how ignorant the mainstream gamer is.. If average Joe with an older card sees that message on Steam when LC gets released, you better believe it will sell videocards..

And I never said LC won't run on a X800.. All I'm saying is that Valve and ATI have a deal, and I think the launch of the new ATI range and Valve's LC are linked! I see no other reason as to why LC keeps getting delayed so long.. Like you said, it's only a 2 maps demo, that can't be that much work that it has to be delayed over & over.. I think the reason is because ATI keeps delaying their new cards..

We'll see if I'm right or wrong when LC finally does get released..
