I don't get what the hack involved or why people who bought HL2 would suffer from it. The update says 'very few' fall into this category, but I don't get why any would at all.

I have asked valve why have been shutdown from steam. It wasn't a good answer I received. If they're blaming me for something at least they could hade sheared it with me.
And one thing before you judge me...
I just want to say.
I DIDN'T USE THE GAME, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE GAME OO THIS COMP. OR ANY OTHER COMP. I DIDN'T STEAL THE GAME!!!!

One major difference between a camera and proprietary software license is that with the camera, you own the physical product. With the software, you enter into an agreement to use the software pursuant to the end-user license specifics. You get caught with a shoplifting offense, you're caught for a specific item. You break the terms of a software product line/contract-based service, and the company in its discretion voids the contract. People that are worried about this and still claim the right to fool around should obviously have tried fooling around on a separate account, anyway.
More like... if you steal a camera from Best Buy, do they have the right to confiscate everything you've ever bought from them in the past? No.Comment

If you live in the UK and are a student you can get consultation with a Solicitor for free (no charge for sending letters on your behalf either). Usually theres one especially for your university, speak to your student union about it. If you had HL1 or HL2 (that you paid for) disabled and you feel you have been wronged then I think its worth taking it to a solicitor aslong as you don't have to pay them. :)Comment

Go buy HL2
Create an account with steam
Install, then Register/Unlock over steam
Play the game
Don't use cracks, or install anything that didn't come directly from Valve
It really isn't that difficult to do or understand. Honestly, the majority of people's problems with disabled accounts result from stupidity, carelessness, immaturity, and impatience.
All i had to was sit back and wait for the game to be released, buy it, and do what i typed above ^^ everything works fine, and i haven't had a single problemComment
