Hm, the benchmark results were pretty interesting, can't say I'm suprised by them though.

The Cedega press release was low on details. Do they have full DX9 support for HL2? I remember that the leaked beta had OpenGL as an option but the retail one doesn't!

I guess that depends on the rendering technologies that linux uses. I know Macs don't use DX so games have to be ported over to a diffirent rendering engine.

hey i was wondering if i could run hl2 on a geforce 2 mx 64mb (i know lol it sucks ass). i could run the cs source beta and i would get around 30 fps so im thinkin i can run hl2. tell me if i can

After seeing Anandtech's, [H]ard|OCP's, and Driver Heavens, I can say that DH's set of results are well wide of the mark.



DH decides that if someone owns an enthusiast card, then they must game at 1600x1200 AA/AF, and as such doesn't bench the cards at lower res, where it is much closer, only choosing to highlight the unrealistic, less played at settings.

I'm still planning on grabbing a 6600GT AGP whenever they freaking release them... :P



Anyway, as far as the resolution settings comparisons... well, I appreciate sites that benchmark the whole range of resolutions. Sure, the lower resolutions often don't touch the rendering power of the top of the line cards, but it's nice to get a feel for where the price/performance line is.

I have GeForce 3 Ti200 64mb..

And i used to get around 40 FPS in CS:Source!



Im going to buy HL2 tommorow through Steam and see if it will lag,

i'll post here on how many FPS I get tommorow.

I play at 1600x1200 AA/AF on with my radeon. And the whole point of this article is to show how the graphics cards run while facing higher graphics and resolutions, not whether or not people play with them. Some people like to have the best graphics.

Anywho, I just bought HL2 and I can't wait till Friday to play (educational reasons)! W00t! It's most likely that it won't lag since I can run CS:Source at max settings with 1024x768. I have a GeForce 4 ti4200 8x AGP 128 mb video card with an AMD XP 2.5 GHZ running @ 1.8ghz.

No, you can't run HL2 on a Geforce2, including the ultra version. well, you can, but do yourself a favor and save your money for a new GFX card before buying HL2. DX6 mode just isn't very fun...

dude it wouldnt even work. it would give you an error message saying dx 7.0 or more is need for HL2. Trust me i know first-hand.

why is it runnning and a clocked down speed do u mean 2500+ and not 2.5 ghz
