edit: paulikas, i did the same thing! i love little details like that. and i hear you, my laptop doesn't handle it too well, but i will say its the most forgiving game (in terms of comp requirements) i've played in a long time.

In Eli Vance's lab there is a newspaper article on a bulletin board. The bottom left of this article has a small blurry picture.



I recognized this picture as a photo included in the New York Times article reporting the torrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

If you can, go into the game and look for it, you'll see what I'm talking about.



What a strange coincidence that I not only recognized the photo, but actually had it on my hard drive ( I saved it when I first read the article online because I knew it was a historic time ).

did you also notice the picture of a group of scientists with the one in the middles face scriblled out? who do you think it was? cant be gordon hes on the right.

Mine is also a laptop. I agree with you that Half-Life 2 has nice performace. My computer runned FarCry (demo) at near 2FPS, and Doom3 (demo) at less than 1 FPS, no joke!

I'm loving the game... Best part about it for me; the Combine soldiers, i want a suit like that! :)



Worst part; Hmm. Monsties talk. Should tag this right? The really really really fast zombies that can jump onto roofs with you, the ones that are attacking you when The Father sends his basket/crane for you. It's not the games fault, im just a scaredy cat :)

I must say that it is very satisfying using the 357 magnum to shoot the hopping zombies 50 feet out of the air onto the ground with a resounding thump. I also appreciate the noggin-utilizing puzzles. However I do find tha sometimes I'll run around finding the next thing to advance and I end up missing an obscure ladder.



Does anyone know how to disable the background environment at the title screen? It's neat but I really want to get into the game quicker.

Yeah I'd also like to know how to prevent an entire map from loading every time I wanna play, it's very cool how it changes depending on what chapter your on, but it unnessasarily slows down the game. G-Man sighting: Did you notice him walking on the cat-walk when you have the air-boat? I saw him talking to some one I didn't expect too...

halo2 sucked... you cant flip warthogs no more, or nade them or knock them into places/levels that their not suspose to be on/in. you cant play 2 player on legendary cuz if one of you die you have to start all over again.



the ending sucked anywayz. (i wont spoil it)



in multiplayer you cant use banshee bombs...

there is no health indicator...

in multiplayer the elite users cant go invis on demand.

all vechicles are destructible which is retarded cuz now you cant flip warthogs/ghost over tanks and do tricks. (backflips and 360's)

matter of fact gta is for the sterotype people (blacks, mexicans, mobsters, italians) that like or want to go to jail. i think those murders shouldnt be blamed on our honorible adult game like counter-strike... they should be blamed on the nimrods that make games like gta...

humping and smacking hoes... stealing... causing mass destruction and gunning people down is not something a normal person does, thus the corruption in kids going out killing random people... all because idiot parents do not read before buying. kids abuse their dumb bimbo blonde moms to much :P

Juse use notepad to open "valve.rc" located in:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\youremail\half-life 2\hl2\cfg

Then remove the following text from the end of the file:



// display the startup level

startupmenu



Just save it and you're good to go. It does look kinda crappy because the game will just use the extra-blurry preview shot instead, but it does speed up loading quite a bit. I'm sure there's some way to choose your own background shot for the menu, so once I find out what it is I'll use some cool shots that I took in-game for the background instead.

I don't think murder or other violent acts should ever be blamed on entertainment like games or movies, regardless of content. Excluding cases of severe psychological disorders, people can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Shooting some pixels on a screen just doesn't lead to popping a cap in a living human being.

What i'd like is the static background image from the HL2 Leaked Alpha that i didn't download as the startup screen. and yes valve, you're idiots for requiring a level load just to access the menu. oh, and for not including zombie basketball.

well i just beat the game VERY unexpected ending, dont really think tahts a spoiler but the citadel is absolutly stunning on the inside, gj valve and the pimped out gravity gun is almost 2 much fun to be real even if it technacily isnt
