The higher detail (looks more realistic) has a greater tendency to give people simulation sickness. Your mind thinks you are moving, but your body says no, it is the exact opposite of motion sickness.

I get this really badly.... I suddenly walk away from the computer after 20 or 30 minutes feeling really sick and have to lie down

You need a connection only once to authenticate the game. After that, you can run it in offline mode. See link for how to do this

Exactly. All that involves 'finding'. Installing isn't the hard part, it's just another hoop to go through.

Don't worry I get the same thing, I couldn't play Halo on PC it made me so sick....the first half life is the same way, its the reason I was never able to beat it. So far it hasn't happend in hl2, i stop playing after an hour tho, had to some stuff, and its never happend in CS
