    CS:S Updates Coming

In a post to our comments system, Erik Johnson of Valve Software has elaborated on Valve's plans to support Counter-Strike: Source with new content:
We're working on porting some more of the classic maps right now, currently de_prodigy is in the works. We'll be releasing this as quickly as they are completed.

We're also working on one original map, which will begin internal playtesting this week. This still means we have a fair amount of work to do on it.

We're also working on two updated player models.

Most of this is scheduled to be released in the December timeframe.

    Erik
I'm hoping for Nuke and Train, myself. But the promise of original maps is even more exciting!

So it looks like new content will be added after HL2 is released (December timeframe), like I expected.. Until then they probably only do bug/exploit fixes and I hope also some engine/netcode tweaking..

Still kinda disappointed that it is coming out in December, esepcially when the game was "ready for retail" 3 weeks ago. Seems like another marketing idea by VALVE. (Have to give it to them though, it did work nicely, the CZ/CS:S Beta was a great one to boost CZ sales.)

I dont begrudge Valve for releasing CSS in its unfinished state, Id rather be playing CSS @ 75% than playing 1.6.

ok this is al great but i hope they keep updating everything else like bugs, the biggest thing which may not be a bug, but i know everyone hates, is the inability to move objects around. this is so obnoxious, they destroyed the pysics engine completly. how the hell does a tin bucket push a human being back 2 feet and doesnt move an inch? i hope they fix it soon

I hope they implement a kick function, so we can kick all that crap out of the way, kick over oil drums, kick grenades away, and kick people when they're down.

yay! ONE more map... yay? the level of detail on these maps isn't that high. give us a break valve! seriously, how hard can it be to port a bunch of old maps and retexture them and add some additional geometry? (it's not, i port maps for UnrealEd, which is a heck of a lot harder!)

Cool, Erik. I've been hoping for some new maps soon. Didn't really expect any until HL2 released. Unlike most current CS players, I'm rather sick of Dust and Aztec, so new maps made from scratch with the Source code is just what I'm looking for.

And while I haven't seen HL2 yet, I bet some areas in there would work well as CS maps. Any chance of some of those areas being available as CS:S maps?
