piranesi is alright.. i mean.. if you like the idea of it being impossible to win as CTs if the bomb gets planted. think about it.. theres 5 ts and 5 cts. and about a million places to watch the bombsite from. if the T's EVER managed to get it down, then the CTs are screwed. its a horrible map for competitive play, but its alright in terms of public gaming. hell, i used to have alot of fun until i realized it takes forever to get from one bombsite to another (given the amount of time it takes to walk from one to the other because there are a million camping spots to check).
mill is fantastic, very even in terms of gameplay. fire, aztec2, comrade.. all bad maps. comrade was rinse and repeat, you might as well have been playing deathmatch because you know EXACTLY where the T's are coming from.. WAY too much CQC in the exact same spots every round, and it got very boring after a few rounds (not to mention a few scrimmages). aztec2 shared the same problem as piranesi as i explained above. fire is at least playable, but it just isn't a very fun map at all. its disorienting to play on and holding bombsites is more of a chore than a challenge due to the bombsites having basically no cover at all.
the maps are coming because old ones are getting boring and the limited number of strats is leading to stagnation in the game. don't know how many of you have taken economics, but thats a bad thing. new things usually spice things up, even momentarily, in CS. every new release of a version, or new game, new weapon, map.. it adds interest. comrade, aztec2, fire all did it for a time, but people realize how bad the maps are and their replayability just isn't enough to justify them being added to the normal rotation like mill. thats why they're working on strike, and i'm glad for it because i've been getting bored of the usual maps too.
anyway, </life story> -_-
