You'd be amazed how much more life the maps have now... they are no where near as boring as they once were.

        See, ambience is everything.

The change I like the most is the new CT spawn garage area in office. The layout and arrangement of cover is completely different. It rocks.

              And Italy was changed, too.

They removed the boxes to get up to the window near CT spawn and replaced them with a sloped pile of logs. They also made a small ledge sticking out to make it easier to get into the window without falling.

Hmmmmm. If this is like 1.6, one should be able to make a weapon or a player model in SoftImage EXP,export it to the matching foider and it should work.

The purpose of Steam was to allow constant updates without having to roll out big releases every few months.
True'ish, mostly to stop having to get the go-ahead from VU each and every update too.

But the logs still require a couple of jumps, like the good old days... :)

I love Italy now, the ambient sounds help you locate your enemies so much easier... you can almost tell exactly where they are coming from if you listen to the sounds that the area they are in makes... like creaking wood when your in the apartment...

However, i would like to see some new "huge" maps that really show me what source is capable of. These levels may look great but i already know every aspect of each of them, it would be nice if they had added some alternate routes in each map. I just hope they really go all out on the new "official" maps that Valve will be releasing.

Also i know they will update more models in, but i hope they dont stop at just four, It feels too similar if you keep shooting at the same looking guys all the time.

                      BTW, TF2???? CZ:Source?? any news?

They Seroiusly need to fix their shadowing algorithm. the shadows are being cast on the wrong surfaces which is shown clearly in the POTD of office where the shadows are going through the desk.

also, the shadow is cast incorrectly in this pic:

Agreed, but performance is more of an issue to me at the moment. I don't feel it's up to scratch.

Anyone getting this error? You quickswitch to a nade, throw it, and nothing comes out, but you lose your nade?

Yea, that's a bug they'll have to fix.

Also, I think everyone hates the fact that you can't jump on physics props or, unless they are very small, push them to set up cover or block pathways. Try to jump behind a small table in a corner to take cover? Sorry, the engine pushes your model to the side and keeps the table in place, not the other way around like it should be. So, while tables and boxes and whatnot do break open realisticly and are fun to watch, tactically they don't work the way Cliffe said they would earlier on.

                                That's a 1/0 variable.

Currently it is locked at 1 (disabled)

Hopefully it will be unlocked soon.
