    HL2 Reviewed

The Half-Life 2 reviews are starting to trickle in today. The first review? According to reports, PC Gamer (UK) gives Half-Life 2 a 96%. For comparison, they gave Doom 3 a 90% and the original Half-Life a very similar looking 96%.

We'll keep you posted on any new developments. You can also check out HL Fallout's Half-Life 2 review list for up-to-the-minute coverage.

Mmm... so long as it's on par with the first I'm going to be quite happy indeed.

I'm not a reader of PC Gamer, so perhaps someone could fill me in on the specifics of their rating. What does "96%" mean? They liked 96% of the game? The game passed 96% of their "benchmark requirements"? They predict 96% of the people who buy the game will like it?

Dunno, it just seems like a rather arbitrary number to post without explaining it a little more. Or maybe not reading PC Gamer just makes me incredibly unenlightened :).

Anyway, I'm just curious. Some gaming magazine's opinion of a game will make no difference in mine. If they gave it 30%, and I liked it, I'd still play it. *shrug*

Doom should be 40%, without the graphics that game would be the most despised sequel in video game history.

96% means it is absolutely fantastic. It's the highest score they can give. I don't think they've ever given higher or will.

I think HL2 should get 90% due to codes got stolen and I can't wait to see how many hax on multiplayer
