ATI Voucher Owners Grab the Bronze

Those over at Voodoo Extreme were given a bit of information that sheds some light on what owners of ATI's HL2 voucher will receive for free.
The ATI key holders will receive the Bronze package. There will be the opportunity to upgrade packages, but the cost has not yet been announced.
Not only does this mean that voucher owners will be allowed to upgrade to a higher package at a later date, but also that other customers (non voucher owners) can also do the same if they so choose to.

Yeah if anyone complains I reserve the right to slap them vigorously. You're getting two of the best games out there for free. Don't whine about it.

edit: It's kinda funny that they mention "the cost has not been announced yet" for the upgrade, since none of the costs have been announced.

edit 2: Why are the news postings today all in funky order? The "imminent" post was first, then the "super CS", and now this one, but they're all in funky order...

But gumplunger... they bought a (then) $400 or so video card! They paid, oh how they paid!

^ That's the arguement you're going to get from them, be prepared.

exactly. much to the surprise of many, that $400.00 you plopped down is for a graphics card, and nothing more. whatever software they decide to bundle with it is salad dressing.

Doesn't surprise me, although I could have swore you got DoD:S and HL1:S with the retail box, but they put it in the CE, thats why ATI vouchers get bronze and not silver. Guess I'll have to update to Silver so I can get hl1:S =P

Actually its more like "This is the thanks we get for rushing our money to valve first." yeah I know dont go on and on about how its "FREE!!1". That argument only goes so far. Part of the money spent on those cards went to valve. They wouldnt have all sold out if it wasnt for the hl2 voucher. And to thank us they give hl2 and cs:s. Great! Im happy, but why are they holding a slightly revamped hl1 and dod:s (another once free mod). i dont care about the goodies I care about a free mod they tried to package and sell. Part of the whole reason you get cs:s free is because cs has always been free. Same as dod. but no, not anymore. Let this be a lesson to all you modders out there. Dont sell out to a game dev.

So they should spend thousands of hours on a mod and not make any money off of it to please everyone?

I'm sure if you made a mod and a game developer came to you and offered you a great ammount of cash you would jump at the opportunity.

That being said, I have an ATI voucher and was cal-i in DoD. It looks like I will be upgrading my voucher because DoD is a great game and I want a piece of that action.

Actually I paid 70 bucks for a 9600se that had the voucher. Got this last year at Best Buys' after-thanksgiving sale.

Not that the card is that great. But hey, for the past year its been a big improvement from playing cs and wc3 on my 8mb rage mobility. Can't argue with a $20 vid card.

Not the pro, but the SE and XT the voucher came with. Believe me, I debated for a long time on what one to get, the cheap one or the better card both with HL2 (I went with XT)
