Since I doubt I'd garner attention from the ladies while wearing an HL2 hat, nor do I go to school and have the need to adorn my trapper keeper with HL2 stickers, I am going for the Silver edition.



I could deconstruct all of the fallacies in Sok4r's post but that would make it seem like I don't think the flaws are evident to everyone. Which I do.

No offense buddy, but that was a pretty awful analogy. The glaring problem is that this is Valve's game. They funded it, it's their's. Vivendi is a distributor. They will help distribute the game. The conflict is that Vivendi wants to be the only ones distributing it even though, really, Valve should have all the right in the world to do it themselves. Nothing's coming out of Vivendi's inventory. It's just coming out of their potential earnings. Maybe if they hadn't fucked around with CZ, Valve would have been a little more compassionate.

By releasing CS:S etc on Steam so soon alot of people will not wait for VU to release the retail versions and buy HL2 etc on Steam..

I didn't post it as a 'defenitive analysis of the legal situation', I posted it as an opinion (I thought I was clear on that). While we don't know the details, the fact remains that the core argument is VU losing sales to Steam and not being happy about that, and now Valve has made the first availability announcement ahead of VU to further drive sales to Steam. And just like I said before, they may have worked it out, OR, they may be prepared to just deal with it after the fact. Not to mention that tomorrow is the 30th and VU may make THEIR announcement and this was planned in conjunction all along.



Have I not been broad enough to include all possible angles? You still disagree? It's all about the business angle, dude.
