ohhh, picture of box is good. I could go for the box and t-shirt, screw the rest of the stuff, and give us Collectors edition in CDs!!!!

I was gonna just buy through steam but this just might give me a reason to purchase in the store.

I don't really understand how you ppl don't have dvd drives. You can get them for like $10 on ebay, if you live in chicagoland area I can give you a dvd drive, just email me.

word. 7% + provincial sales tax (ontario is 8%) equals a whole wad of dough. what do you get for it:

dvd - not a bad plan, but it alienates anyone who doesnt have a dvd rom. yes they are cheap but its just a plain fact that not everyone has one.

cs:source - what does this mean? does it mean that cs:source does not come with the standard version of the game? i certainly hope not.

hl:source: personally, i need more information. currently there is only 1 hl:s screenshot floating around, and it just looks like hl1 with nice looking water. i would need more screenshots and information to figure out if this was worth it.

t-shirt - who would wear a hl2 novelty t-shirt? did valve get desparate in ways to justify such a high retail price? and what would be on it? probably somthing which is embarassing. and xl only? it might have been a better idea to include a mail in voucher for a t-shirt and get it sent to you in your size.

prima book - sounds cool. kind of like a making of the game book. might be worth it.

The collectors edition is going to be basically limited so if you get one you'll be "leetzorz" and better then everyone that didn't get the collectors edition.

also practically evrey current game developing/publishing company has a collectors edition for their new games, its a sales gimmick.

This is the collectors edition. In this scenario, 'collector' means 'fanboy who will blow too much money for a product intelligent people get for much less'. The price is really not an issue with 'collectors'.
Yeah never thought of it that way, guess your right. Maybe ill hold that thought oh the preordering it.

I think they should just replace the shirt with a crowbar..that'd be the only reason I bought it...if it came with a real crowbar...so I could go beat scientists face in just like Gordon! And I bet i'm not the only one with this dream....

I wonder if I'll be paying less if I just buy the Half-Life 2 Prima Book along with my pre-order of HL2?

just cause i don't have a dvd-rom doesn't mean i'm cheap. i'm just lazy to install it. also the collector's edition don't seem to have much features that's worth it. will there be any future benefits for collector's edition owners? or is this everything?

Probably. I'm not sure how expensive the preorder is but I think HL2 will be around $50. So unless the Prima book is $30, and that'd be a giant ripoff, you're pretty safe.

With the CE, you're basically paying extra for a shirt, a book, and a box. I expect HL:S will be nothing special, and if you MUST have it, I don't think there's any legalities that can keep someone from distributing the game for free with a different name. Vavle/VU know fanboys will jump on the CE though, so it's a smart way to milk the game even in it's beginnings. I bet half the people who buy the CE will also buy a normal copy.
