In the playable version of hl2 at e3 2k3, you could stand on barrels, so most likely it will be implemented in cs:source.
I played on a server the other day that had some command implemented that messed with the psyhics a bit. While it was kind of silly seeing barrels fly 100's of feet in the air, I did like the ability to stand on top of barrels. This was really cool, and allowed you to sort of self boost without needing another player. Cliffe if you're watching, any chance of this being implemented? It seemed more realistic to be able to stand on top of the barrels, then to be pushed off of them.

It's not that. For multiplayer, they've edited the physics so they're more practical for online play, and also aren't as much of a server load. Try standing on barrels on the maps that have the "push" edited out of them. It's very laggy. Once people realize what it is like to have server-side barrels that you can stand on in MP, you'd rather them the way they are now.

Single Player will be a different story. They wouldn't gimp the physics for no reason.Comment

I've played a CS:Source map with a non-push barrel, it's laggy because they STOLE it from the half-life 2 beta (which is incredibly old) and placed the barrel in their map. CS:Source is a beta, that's why they don't have them in multiplayer. I guarantee they will when CS:Source is released. You can quote me on that.
