HDR is one of those things that you will spend all of 8 seconds impressed about how pretty it is, then will never notice again, especially since it has no bearing on gameplay.

yea it's just brighter... oh, and has a higher range of colors, implements features such as simulated pupil dilation and contration, realistic blooming, more accurate reflection, and more realistic coronas. but then again when you have the functioning brain mass of a frog i guess you wouldn't notice that.
Really, the only thing noticable from HDR Lighting is that things are brighter. If Doom III had it, it would be a disaster because it would reflect off of the metal and the flashlight would be useless.Julio Caesar wrote..

It looks a little weird in places in far cry because the levels wont made/tested with HDR lighting, it should be better in a level made specifically with HDR lighting in mind. (No places where it makes stuff look horrible, just the good parts).
It takes a ton of power, though, but it doesn't look too great.Comment

Yeah, it's too bad that you won't be able to get all of the features. Good luck on that brain surgery.

I have an x300 and I was able to run that hdr demo posted a bit ago on medium settings, so I hope valve'll let me play. The lighting effects are absolutely BEAUTIFUL, I really feel sorry for all you whiners who have to look at screen shots.
Radeon X300's 128mb can't run it, right?
Oh, wait, I don't.Comment

Hmmm... I hadn't thought about that. (though hdr has nothing to do with shadows.) Good point. I believe Unreal 3 engine correctly fades shadows based on distance.

Ok here the deal. Some stuff you posted was funny. Youve just got to work on it! The main thing is to stop swearing, thats just unprofessional. Secondly, stop with all the exclamations and use of the oneone it really is starting to wear thin. Oh, and stop typing on the keyboard at all, it saves the rest of us some headaches trying to read through useful comments than a troll crying out for attention.
