cliffe? can we comment on this? the aim/netcode feels wacky.
I honestly haven't noticed this "wackiness" that some of you guys are talking about. And unfortunately, I doubt Valve is going to be able to do much unless you're a little more specific.

I think the difference you see in aiming now comes from the fact that this time it's actually 100% accurate :P

The sky walking problem is nothing big, I really want some answers on why my Radeon9800XT is performing so bad in multiplayer servers.

(Sure I get like 125 FPS in a server by my self with max settings on)

Although as soon as I get into a multiplayer internet server...woooaa..there goes my fps.. (30-40 AVG FPS) .

The sad thing is, if I turn down all the settings and disable all the direct x 9 stuff. ( Switch into DirectX 7 mode ).

        I get like a 5 FPS boost..LOL..

        I have an AMD 2500+ / 512 RAM/ 9800XT/ Audigy 2.

        That meets the recommended settings.
For one thing, you'll probably need another 512MB stick of RAM to smooth things out further. Also, I too have an AMD 2500+ and it is a huge bottleneck in the Source engine. Why? D3D/DirectX is a lot more hardware reliant than OpenGL is. OpenGL can get away with your having a beefy video card and crappy other stuff (within reason), but DirectX makes use of the CPU a lot more. So you and I are being held back by our CPU's.

... Not exactly. Someone unloaded 27 AK rounds towards me during on online match. He was crotched AND in a higher position than I was, I too was crouched and aiming up to get him. He hit me once out of 27 bullets he fired (as I took his gun afterword). This took place at the left side of the tunnels. He was coming out, and I was just about to go up the two steps inside.

Yeah, I kind of noticed something with the hitboxes. Do they even use hitboxes? Anyway, I can't really tell you what is exactly wrong with it, but it does feel a bit slower.

steam won't let me update CS:S! It just says "steam servers too busy" for a few days now.... actually since HL preload came out, is anyone else having the same problem?

Yes, I don't think you are only one. People like me, you and Im sure other millions are expirienceing this homosexual problem. I might add that out of all those people who are pre-loading HL2, about 40% think the game is either free or they will never pay for it or both.

If VALVE could record how many people are actually going to play that pre-loaded version of HL2, im sure they'd agree that less than half of the people wont play the game at all.

(which is sad by the way because people who want to update their CS:S could not play because we cannot update the version to jack)

                      WELL GUESS WHAT!

If we didn't have boosting, the whole fucking world would be alot better. I wouldn't have to fucking watch as someone floated across the map just because there was a little bump in the ground and the feet can't mold with it like it was before boosting.

now you can't stand on steps without looking at the guy next to you standing strait up with one foot out in the middle of the air.

But hey, you can still skywalk! Thats right kids! You can boost right out of the map! Its not even hard you just jump to the ledge!

Isn't that great? If you couldn't reach a point on a map without boosting, YOU MOST LIKLY WERE NOT INTENDED TO GO THERE IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE.

SO ALL YOU BABIES THAT BITCHED ABOUT BOOSTING. Thanks Alot.

Maybe if you guys worked with Valve instead of against them, we would get somewhere. Let's look at this simply, it is apparent that skywalking will be fixed before the game goes gold because valve has noticed it (and don't start the 'well why haven't they fixed it ?!?!?' comments, as Cliffe has already answered that question). You people have to keep in mind that the guys at Valve are working overtime to try and produce a top notch game, to do that they can't just look at the steampowered forums or even these forums and change things in the blink of an eye. Sorting bugs takes a lot of time and effort from the coders, it's interesting how you all know that Half-Life 2 / CS:Source are the biggest game(s) of the year, yet you cannot comprehend the fact that there are so many issues to deal with, if you fix one bug, another may pop up because of the previous fix. If you do however want to bring a bug to the attention of Valve, I would suggest searching on the steampowered.com forums then posting if the issue hasn't already been brought up. I'll also point out that the CS:S beta does include a bug reporter (default key F4) rest assured, Valve are listening to you guys, and if you post problems in a civilised and constructive manner, then Valve can get round to fixing them a lot quicker. Thanks.
