    nvidia soundstorm > creative soundblaster.

the nvidia soundstorm gives amazing sound quality in my opinion.

my friend had an creative audigy, and i didnt rate it all to good tbh.

    www.nvidia.com/object/feature_soundstorm

plus, you can listen to the sound storm song on that website!!!!! rofl, its so corny and cheesy. a party boy type beat kicks in, and then a woman yells 'yeeeeahhhh take the world by storm.... soundstorm!'

so funny, lmao, i actually laughed listening to it!

edit: i just listened to more of the song, and a guy starts saying 'nvidia, nvidiaaaaaa' its a classic song, maybe nvidia will release it into the charts? ROFL!

Now, I'm sure most of you have rap and "alternative" CD's instead of Pink Floyd and there are probably no differences with that on a good or bad card...so go borrow your parents copy of it.
        HAHAHAHAHA

Thats because rap sucks balls no matter how you try to make it sound good.

          Wow. Those benchmarks suck!

I'm forcing it to run in DX9 mode on my 5700 Ultra (256), plus I'm using an Envy24 based sound card. I'm still getting between 60-70 fps most of the time.

When I use my Plantronics DSP-500's it goes up another 10 fps.

first you need speakers with a good enough frequency response to be able to hear the difference a good sound card makes.

second, you need good hearing. ie a musical ear.

Why try to force DX9? You do relize that valve has DX8.1 forced on all FX series cards even if you try to force the newer path.

Sorry Man. I don't sit at home and masturbate to hardware benchmarks. I like to date women and even touch an occasional boob.

No it's not. And soundstorm is enabled only when you use the optical out. If you plug your headset (p2...) on the analog output, you use the Realtek ALC 650 chipset.

Don't believe in ads, benchmarks or reviews from all the hardware sites. Think.

Before I forced it, it was displaying DX8 in the video settings - I added a command to the cfg file and now it displays DX9 and I get more particles and more world detail, etc... than before. Maybe I'm just nuts - but it seems to work.

What would be the best setting for my dsp-500. My 9800 pro is oc'd like hell and I want to get alittle more fps.
