CS:S BETA Preloading

Preloading has started!



The Counter-Strike: Source BETA will be preloading to Counter-Strike: Condition Zero owners and ATI voucher holders today. Phase 2 of the BETA will begin Wednesday afternoon, when the preload cache will be unlocked and players around the world will get a glimpse at the next stage in Counter-Strike history. Here's Doug Lombardi's announcement:

Pre-loading of the Counter-Strike: Source Beta to owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and the ATI\HL2 bundle begins today. On Wednesday, this second phase of the beta will open and the beta will be playable to this group.

The CS: Source BETA contains one map (de_dust) and a single player model for each team. It is the first open test of the Source engine (info) that powers Half-Life 2.

The word "today" should be emphasized. I think it will be released at 6pm PST(same time cyber cafes recieved it).

Well, this really tells us nothing. Most everyone knew it would come today, and was confident that Valve would not miss another deadline. He should have given us an official time..



It is good news, though, to know it will come.

Pre-load starts at 6 PM Pacific. That's 9 PM Eastern. It's 7:45 PM now in the East... and it won't show up as playable on your games list until Wednesday night.
