I think Valve mentioned in some interview somewhere before that over time, they are likely to add new features to the Source engine - which I hope equates to the sort of things most people are mentioning (such as light/shadow occlusion).

Of course, this is all thanks to Steam :)

All I really want CS:S to have (besides the amazing graphics and physics) is a GOOD netcode.

My ping ranges from 40/70 and I really can't stand 1.6 netcode anymore.

That will be the point that will make me play it forever or simply quit playing it.

Have they adjusted the affectiveness of the Mac 10 or TMP? How about the UMP?
To answer this question, the Mac and TMP feels like the spray has been tightened up and the ROF is a little lower (no doubt cliffe will want to put me right there- but I'll let you try it your self on release *strokes cafe account*). The UMP feels the same as 1.6

I played css at a gaming cafe last week. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, is better except for the aiming/crosshairs. You have no fucking clue where your bullets are going and often miss a person 10 meters in front of you. No one else there believed me, but if you switch between 1.6 and css, you'll notice. I got so angry that I just played 1.6 instead. There are two possibilities that I can think of:

1)FPS. In 1.6 I noticed that if my fps dropped below 60, it became much harder to control my recoil. Considering the pcs at cafe were only running from 40-60, that is my first assumption.

2)Bullet holes. After switching back and forth between css and 1.6, another option I came up with was that the bullet reflections/holes in 1.6 are visible from all the way across the map. In css they are more realistic (bullet holes, sparks, smoke puffs, etc.) but I couldn't see them while I was shooting.

This is not some bug or minor problem, It makes the game random and stupid. It is almost as bad as bf1942's aiming, dare I say it. If valve can fix this, css will more than I could have hoped for.

Actually, the run speed is exactly the same. The code is the same and we have physically timed it to be sure.

Only the rate of fire was increased on the para.

he M4, The AK, They've Changed!

Firing is very different than 1.6. M4 and AK patterns are incredibly close and tight at close range. The further you get away, the more "random" they feel. While you may be thinking that it sounds like very little has changed, there is one thing that's quite new — the crosshair doesn't show the randomness.
Of course, I can't say whether or not their assessment is correct.

judging by what cliffe said the only thing they changed was the ROF on the para and nothing else, so most the weapons should feel the same and etleast shot like they use too since they haven't touched the code for it or anything

It is not just jumping without delay and there is no reason to remove it.
If there's no reason to remove "it", there must be something to remove, right? Such as the jumping with no delay that people on GotFrag are talking about. If you strafe jump (not bunny-hop, bhopping pretty much dissapeared in 1.3) fast enough, you can keep jumping without slowing down much or at all. Why should this not be removed? It's a nice manuever for more experienced players against less experienced ones, and I usually advocate skill over non-skilled players, but it's just a stupid thing to see happen.

I agree that the weapons changes were probably quite minimal, and that any perceived changes are in the minds of the players only. This happens after every single release, after all. It's probably just the new engine playing tricks on them.

Certainly - very small things can greatly change perception. Just try pushing the amplitude of one the AK47 firing sounds in CS by about 10%, play again, and it feels much more powerful - even though you know perfectly well it isn't, even with only a 10% change (or whatever it is - I forget about the linear hearing thing). When the whole sound, appearance and atmosphere change, it's surprising not more people have spotted vast differences.

The whole challenge of taking a no-scope shot is guessing where the center of the screen is; a screen-centered scope that correctly draws the game would make trying to find the center of the screen easier. Fortunately, though, the scope doesnt draw the world correctly, and it doesn't make it easier to no scope b/c of this.
Could you, by any chance, have mistakenly understood the concept of "reflection" ?

what you see unscoped in the scope is BEHIND you, not in front. So it will be of no help to kill someone by shooting unscoped, but it could help those damn awpers to spot a guy trying to knife them in the back.

Yup, lots of people always say things changed after a CS update while infact nothing was changed.. It's all in the heads of people.. We all have it sometimes I think.. Also everybody has good and bad days while playing, and when some people have a bad day just after a update they like to blame the game/update..

Anyway, I can't wait to play CS:S beta in 2 days.. The cache file is on my HD already.. :)
