Actually entro, the light is so bright that simply the reflection off the surfaces in front or to the side of you (even surfaces that aren't what one would normally think of as 'reflective') is so strong that even through your closed eyelids (or even a hand over your eyes) it will still scar your retina temporarily. The only way to not be blinded by a flashbang is to not only not see it but to also not see too many surfaces the flashbang hits.
Those suckers give me a headache just thinking about them.
For example, you know how you can tell the difference between pitch black and 'normal' lighting, when there's a wall in front of you? Even if it's not a mirror, you can tell the difference in lighting. With a flashbang, it's like the opposite of 'pitch black'. Even if you wouldn't consider the surface 'reflective', it can still reflect light (everything reflects light; when it doesn't, that's when it's 'colored' black). So the dusty wall in front of you becomes (for a moment) a 'pitch white' wall that blinds you.
Anyway, that's real life. In CS, the suckers are so hard to throw and aim that if a person could simply turn around to not be blinded by them, it would neutralize them completely. Yes, occasionally in 1.6, one can do exactly that, but since you can't all the time, my opinion is that being able to do so is a bug.
My suggestion is that if an attempt is made to avert one's eyes, one should not be blinded as much. But one should still be blinded 'completely', even if it's just for a shorter amount of time.Comment

According to this, real flashbangs emit a flash of 1 000 000 candela, and a bang of 170-180 decibels.
Now, I don't know exactly how much a candela is, but one million of them is probably quite bright. I think it's safe to say that with the flash coupled with the sound, you're going to be down for the count even if you're not looking directly at it.Comment

White (reflects ALL the colors hence u get a bright blindin color)
Black (absorbs ALL the colors hence u cant c SH!T)
Try this in the middle of the summer go to beach and bring a White n Black T-shirt . . . Try 'em both n then tell me in which one u are cooler n in which one u a hotter . . . its pretty simple . . . .
The Flash n Bang will also produce a really loud noise which will leave u deaf n drop u like a sack of potatoes . . . Why? Well its simple also ur ear drums control the equilibrium of ur body . . . sooooooo if u make a really longs noise not only u will hear a really high pitch ring in ur ears put it will drop u to the ground.

The steradian is a measure of angle in three dimensions."
This wavelength of this light is most sensitive for human eyes, and the radiance properties of these grenades mean that if you are anywhere near, you will get blinded.Comment

Newby player joins a counter-strike server. He see's 2 players on each others heads. "OMG THIS ISN'T REALISTIC" he proclaims. He quits and returns to camping in a Tom Clancy games.
Does this ever happen? If so, would ANYONE care? I think the second you realize you're playing a 5 year old game you give up any notion of realism. I think most players crack up when they see people boosting for the first time. Anyone who played from 1.3 or earlier played the game completely OVERRUN with "bugs" of this nature, and CS players learned to take advantage and enjoy them. There's no majority of players in counter-strike that know the game, that support "realism", and there never has been.
Everyone I know including myself just quit and moved to TFC, where the game doesn't change every week and the gameplay is quicker and more skill based. CS is so extremely limiting of what you can do, to the point where you can not distinguish any characteristics in play, and you basically just have to automatically headshot or lose on sight.Comment
