That's not funny. You just made a mockery of physics. A car would not roll over with Gabe inside no matter what speed it was going at.

Valve is in Washington, so it's only like 9:40 there.
It's passed midnight here, so they missed the release for today
I'm bummed, I'd rather they not give me a release date then give me one they can't stick to. But, that's a part of business these days.Comment

Yes, because games are generally released after 10pm on a work night. I doubt we will see it tonight. There won't be an explanation, they will simply release it when they can/feel like it. Its valve, its what they do, go here and see http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_time
September 17 = April Fools Day. Valve time = 10pmComment

Release is actually imminent. There was an issue with the Linux server files:

Well coming out with a release date 1+ years in advance is hard to ask and I can understand delays, but valve told us that we could play the beta on the 17th less then a month ago, for once I don't understand.

Looks like they scrapped the Linux DS for launch, should live soon:
"There is an incremental change to the TF2 content depot that fixes this.
That depot has not propagated to the content servers yet, however. Once
the updated content depot is ready I will notify the list.
In the mean time, I'm very sorry for the crashes. And just so you know
it is only the Windows DS that is going live right now. The client and
the Linux DS will be out as soon as we can.

well that makes me smile, I hope I can play it before I go to bed tonight (this morning, whatever)
of course...no one will have a server available as soon as releases anyway right? so if I probably won't be playing any multiplayer tonight...this morning, whateverComment

A good chunk of the server went out the other day. We even had a news post on it. All that's left are the binaries. And given the constant update with those according to the HLDS mailing list and the rather large dip in the content server... expect some TF2 soon.
