Steam Client Update

I already finished HL2.. Took me arround 16 hours total.. What a ride!! :P



Nice though they are fixing some stuff.. Didn't notice alot of sound stuttering, just sometimes, not alot..



Now we wait for the big CS:S updates, and the release of DoD:S etc.. :)

Can you play HL1 without a CD in? - YES

Can you play CS without a CD in? - YES

Can you play CZ without a CD in? - YES

Can you play CZeleted Scene's without a CD in? - YES



It would be nice to not have to insert the CD to play Source too. Im not that fussed with having to use the CD with HL2 though.



If it was a game that didn't require steam, then i would not have a problem with inserting the CD at all, but using steam where everyone has their own individual account and still having to insert a CD is kind of stupid.

Oh it took me like 11 hours to beat half-life 2, that's 11 hours you have to keep the cd in.

i dont see what the big deal is. how many cd's do ya'll really put in your drives? just leave the HL2 cd in until you beat the game. its not that hard. when you beat the game, take it out.

When Half-life was released it also required the CD.

It is a requirement in the contract.

The problem with the CD/DVD having to be in the drive, dear Gentleman (and the one GF :P) is not so much with HL2, as with CS:S.



I use this PC for work as well (I work from home) and hence need to pop in a different CD every now and then. I assume more people actually use their drive for things other than games.



As we all know, CS:S is a game that isn't played until you 'finish' it; rather you play it in bits during the day (all year 'round). Now, since we need to pop the HL2 DVD back in every time we want to play CS:S, the DVD itself runs the risk of becoming scratched. So apart from the 'user-unfriendliness' issue, there is also a great risk of product damage.



I wrote Vivendi Universal Games about this, and I suggest everyone does the same. When you do, make sure you mention, like I did, that they will have to replace our discs if they become faulty because of this swapping process, and will hence run into extra costs. If enough people write with this information, they will have to come around (or so I hope).

Yes i agree totaly. Its an issue with CSS but somehow people thought i was only talking about hl2 earlier.

Is the HL2 DVD ultra fragile and brittle, or are you people just a bunch of whiney assholes that are too fucking stupid to put a disc in a CD tray without breaking it?

Stop and think about it Mobius. How many years have you been playing CS 1.6? Wouldnt it get annoying for you to insert a CD every time you wanted to play CS 1.6 over the years?



edit/ and yes the disks do become damaged over time. I have had many games and CD's damaged through use, even when taken care of and stored correctly.
