ePhemol says: "YAY! 3 Screenshots.. Valve noone cares, I will not purchase Halflife 2 or any other software related to Valve.. I am buying Doom3..

Valve you can go away.. your not wanted.. only people that take cs seriously, like leagues will stick with you... everyone else will go play Doom3"

    You're a idiot.

I have Doom3. Fun game. Suspenseful. Dark. Sinister.

Also seems to be nothing but metal corridors. Every shot I've seen of HL2 looks better. Every damn last one of them.

Not wanting to slam ID here....they did good work......but HL2 and CS:S is more to my liking. ID is the best in the world at making metal corridors. We'll let Valve put us in a whole city. I have patience. I don't need everything yesterday.

Take as long as you need Valve. I'll be there when it's done to your satisfaction.

Ultra high, high res, af and aa on 8x? You think it looks bad? Hmmm maybe you need a better machine...
For ultra detail level you need AT LEAST a 512MB video card.

Where is a consumer going to get a card like that?

Did you know the test computer had 2 hard drives totalling 1 terabyte of storage capacity?

DOOM3 is a tech demo, it is meant to show off the engine.

It is not meant to be played by the average gamer.

I don't know, I may just be upset about the fact that my 9 month old $2000 computer (not including monitor and speakers, just the case and everything inside) doesn't meet the MEDIUM specs (a 256M VRAM? are they high?).

Hi IM VALVE, I delay Counter-Strike Source and release new HL2 screens so people forget about the CS:S Delay.

My comp is half such specs, and it runs perfectly fine at HIGH quality. (P4 1.8, 768MB RAM w/ ATI Radeon 9800 Pro). Smart purchasing decisions make alot of the difference...

            omg.. Omg.. OMG.. *splooge*

Awesome screens, with all this talk about HL2 and Doom3, well, why doesn't someone figure out how to incorporate Doom 3's lighting with the Source Engine? Or whatever it is.

HL2's strength will be the Source Engine's physics, while Doom 3's strength is it's lighting...
You mean the Havok 2.0 engine that VALVe bought and slightly modified. Play Painkiller, it's only a decent engine.

I'm not impressed with the new shots, meh.

Actually, I think the screenshots were released to take the focus away from Doom3. Almost worked.

For the love of God, these are new.

DOES NO ONE READ THE DAMN LINKS?!

They were taken just yesterday by Greg Coomer. He just launched the game and took those shots as is.

I gotta disagree with you khAoS, I'm still pretty impressed. Remember, it'll look quite a bit better in motion too.
Oh I know it'll look better in motion. The E3 movies impress the hell out of me, and I'm buying it first day. But the stills just don't have the impact of its biggest competitor, Doom 3. Of course, it's all about the gameplay, not graphics, and God willing, HL2 will have gameplay in spades.

Yup, also, don't forget that a lot of people on the Doom 3 boards at GFaqs really don't like the old school shooting and repetitive metal corridors even though they look nice. Hopefully, HL2 will live up to the hype and at least be fun.

well first of all, HL2's Pysics are just amazing, best ive ever seen , and the graphics in doom3 are bland, no detail, unlike hl2 every peice of everything has its own charectoristics.

I don't think they have implemented that yet, but look further and you can see those yellow dots lighting up the ground

I cant wait for hl2. screw doom 3, could you go out into citys and stuff?
