Looks like I'll keep my 4600 till Source is out and postphone my 9800 pr0 purchase. Thx 4 the heads up
The only "fix" reported to work for some people is using custom opengl optimized omega drivers, or old versions of the catalyst, but even then results vary, usually with just a small gain in performance. Explaining this to people or trying to get help is generally a lost cause as they just assume it's a user problem and they need to use blah cvar, or turn off vsync, or make sure blah blah isn't turned on. But it's a real problem that I personally think is a defect with the card, steam/1.6 or both. It may actually have a simple fix, I just haven't found it yet. I do however get maximum FPS in other opengl games like Quake 3. In the meantime though, I'm back on my GF4 until CS: Source comes out.Comment

Yeah, this is a pretty cool update, I like it a lot.
Now I'm just waiting for the near-future update where we can download third-party mods directly from Steam
. It actually should be implemented really soon.
Also, I hope they soon update Steam so we can move around the games on our 'My games' list (rearrange them) and maybe make our own subgroups/groups to group our games how we like.Comment

its called short hand
ok yeah it will be on ur hard drive for 5 days, but not all of it. And if they released the cache at the same time as the release dont u think the steam network would go very very very very slow and stop working... as its done before.
They did it for the release of cz and it worked greatComment
