    why would they team with ATI if ATI sucks for them? lol
    Because ATI isn't geared towards OpenGL games. HL2 and CS:S will be D3D, which is ATI's specialty

      There is a problem with CS/Steam and ATI cards. It seems pretty rare, but not super rare. A small percentage of radeons will have poor fps in CS, and there isn't anything you can really do about it AFAIK. I recently bought a 9800 pro and that's when I became aware of this problem. My previous card was a GF4 Ti 4200 which stayed at 100fps constant in almost every condition; the radeon however drops into 60s on maps like aztec, and drops below 80 in most firefights. Something a premium DX9 gen card should definitely not be doing in CS.

      The only "fix" reported to work for some people is using custom opengl optimized omega drivers, or old versions of the catalyst, but even then results vary, usually with just a small gain in performance. Explaining this to people or trying to get help is generally a lost cause as they just assume it's a user problem and they need to use blah cvar, or turn off vsync, or make sure blah blah isn't turned on. But it's a real problem that I personally think is a defect with the card, steam/1.6 or both. It may actually have a simple fix, I just haven't found it yet. I do however get maximum FPS in other opengl games like Quake 3. In the meantime though, I'm back on my GF4 until CS: Source comes out.

            So is Source still scheduled to begin pre-loading on the 5th?

            Also apparently HLSW doesn't want to work anymore with the new update.

              Wow, suddenly, with the 'browse games' feature, Steam feels so much more polished.

                Seems they still haven't fixed the player-specific hitbox bug.
                That would be like a Windows patch not fixing an office bug.

                      Theyve put third party games at top to, wish we could decide if that was bottom or top, I play CZ all the time so I want it at the bottom :/

                      My net speed got reset to, not sure it matter anyway.

                      Looks like they are using the leaks hl2 icon :P

                      The CS:S icon looks utter crap :S

                          I guess steam auto gets all this stuff now :) they need to fix;

                          map changing when I have the game minimizing thus map loader not being in the center when I maximise it

                            Very nice update, brings up the professionalism of Steam up a few notches. The price should be normalised though, the entire point of Steam is to cut out the middleman and lower prices. It is entirely ridiculous IMHO to have exorbitant prices for games on Steam when you can get them at a fraction from a brick and mortar store.

                              Couldn't agree more.. I thought the whole point was to offer games cheaper on Steam then normal retail.. It should well be possible because with Steam sales Valve gets 100% instead of maybe 40% of normal retail..

                              Ohw, and I notice some people still can't seperate Steam from CS.. This was a Steam update people, not CS! So plz don't whine about them not having fixed CS related bugs with this update, that's kindof dumb/ignorant to do.. Steam is not CS, and CS is not Steam.. Other games run on Steam aswell, not just CS..
