Good News for ATI Voucher Holders

Taylor Sherman of Valve, passes along some good news in a Steampowered.com forums' thread. In an upcoming Steam update, those with voucher slips from an ATI product will be allowed to input the key for Half-Life 2 into their current Steam accounts.

The next Steam update (which will happen before the CS:S Beta) will enable Steam to accept your ATI keys ahead of time, so you shouldn't have to create a new account.

Previously, those with ATI keys had to create a separate Steam account when redeeming it.

Originally it just got you HL2 for free on its release. Now it gets you the CS-S beta too.

No one forced them to buy a card at that time.

As I said, no one forced them to buy the card. Simple as that. Just because they bought it doesn't mean they were "screwed over" anymore than the rest of the community.

Yeah they did, alot of them bought it thinking they'd get hl2 free, infact I know people who bought a new card there and then just so they can get it free and play with a decent fps, now theyve got a card they didnt particulary want that wont run newer games so well, they couldve waited if they'd know and got a decent card nowish.

So does this mean I don't have to mail in all that crap to VALVe or whatever? I can just put the ATI key in Steam and I'll get HL2 and CS:S Beta?
