The only reason it's so hard to log in is due to all the network traffic of thousands of people trying to download an update. Nothing to do with steam exactly. The only other situation that I can describe it's like is: A new patch coming out for FarCry but with only one mirror being up for it.

You could be right, but I'm not so sure. After all, Steam uses 33 content servers for Steam. For all of them to be performing so poorly, I would think that there's another issue at work here.

Alt+tabbing out of steam works for abit longer, but it still closes after about 20 seconds.



ALSO when you go back and say the maps changing the steam indicators at the edge of the screen, not the center, so you dont know if its up downloading a new map or model.

Yeah, that bug has been there for ages and Valve still haven't made any effort to fix it.



And they wonder why people flame them all the time? They introduce changes that no-one needs/wants (crosshair, headshot icon to name 2), but they still haven't fixed that stupid bug, and the left handed after alt-tab bug, aswell as many more that I can't remember right now.

There's only 19 in North America...19 Content servers for ~80k-100k users in North America
