I know nothing of this farcry. But to me, if one video game 'nails' the correct way for a flash bang to work, it's fine with emulating them.

After all, Ocarina of Time (the first 3D Zelda) 'nailed' the way for a camera targeting system to work and has been emulated in just about every game like it since.

Anyway, as far as CS:S goes, I won't let myself get too excited, as my comp doesn't even meet one hundredth of the specs they listed on that 'run of the mill gaming rig'.

I'm not sure if Far Cry "nails" the FB look and sound, but it does an impressive job. It's my first taste of a CS: Source FB effect in a game and it was done quite well.

Someone had to say it? I don't think anyone even knows what the hell you're talking about.

CS:S is a big Far Cry ripoff.

A typical gaming rig come autumn: atleast 9600XT, a gig of ram and a cpu to match.

If you don't have that, then you can't really expect to play the upcoming games all that well.

And mine. Mine is barely half that spec. In fact it's not even that, my PC is about 1/3 of what that one is. And out of all the CS-playing people that I know personally, I've actually got the fastest PC and I know only two people with better graphic cards then me (i.e. everyone else I know bar two has just not bothered to upgrade and kept with their on-boards like me)

That PC they tested CS:S on wasn't at all "run of the mill'. I don't think I've even heard of normal people having 1Gb of DDR RAM.
Its meant to be ironic, you know; a joke.

Well look at the Doom3 testing.

"While this test system certainly still qualifies for high end, it is a bit more comparable to systems that many of you own today. This Dell machine featured an Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor and 2GB of DDR400 Ram all on an i875 motherboard."
