lol too bad almost no pro players will go to source, simply because there's nothing what so ever to gain from it yet

I bet the update isn't the cs:s update, and I'll put money on it.

I'm sure eventually pros will play source, mostly because of sponsorship pressure. Source is pretty, pretty makes it easier to sell. Sell in the sense your average joe will give it a second look for the graphics. The game also takes alot of hardware to run, with which they will show off all the latest hardware, pimp it hard and make sales. So in the end, money will dictate what will happen, as with 99% of the things in the world.

Personally, I agree with the HardOCP article. While it's an update graphically, it's a step backward in terms of everything else. The physics only rarely come into play, and many of the minor steps that CS has been taking towards more useful admin features have been erased. The features of Adminmod should really be integrated into the core package, but instead we've got no tools to keep servers orderly. While this doesn't have much of an effect on tournament LAN play, it affects every other aspect of CS play. I suspect 1.6 will be phased out eventually; the 2005 Winter CPL event will turn out to be its last, if it isn't replaced sooner.

What are you talking about? So you can't slap people around or slay them.. big fucking deal. AdminMod is something I certainly will not miss, though it will probably find its way into CS:S. It offers nothing to the player (except stupid glowing players and other worthless crap that no one needs to enjoy their game), and allows admins to abuse with ease. With the console, you can kick and ban players, restart the round, change the map, and do many other things with your server. Funny enough, these things are ALL INCLUDED WITH THE GAME. No tools to keep the server orderly? You can hit one key (~ in case you havn't found it) and have access to all the tools you need to keep your server under control. Not only that, but it also saves the players the visual annoyance of neon-colored letters coming up on their screen to alert them of the ridiculously obvious, and spares them the UnrealTournament "Headshot!" sounds.. like no one could tell what that icon in the upper right of the screen really meant.

I think CAL should have waited for awhile before announcing this. The game is still simply too buggy imo. Even with GotFrag's assistance in the executing client thing it still feels really buggy.

I think they're trying to influence ValVe to hurry up or something on fixing the game.

Uh, warcraft3/superhero mod are really fun to play imho. Why are you freaking whinning about admin abuse? If you aren't doing anything wrong, more often than not, admins won't bother you. So yeah it's a shame that these admin mod tools have to be re-written.

WC3? Fun. Superhero? A little less fun. Okay, good that's nice.

But wow, you think admins don't just act up? That must mean when you join a server, you're really quiet, and you don't play well at all. I've had my cfg fucked with just purely because I went 10-1 on some n00bish pub server. I've since made it read-only. Admins, lots of the times, are no better than the players.

How do you get your CFG changed? That's just wrong. That's as bad as having your name changed on their server but it stays changed when you go to another one.

But yeah, WC3 mod, and admin_vote_*, that's about the best I've seen of the mods. Oh and the statsme mod, and rank, it's nice to know how much damage you had, who did the most damage that round, etc.

'Monsterkill' 'Headshot' 'Humiliation', could do without, as well as all those other sounds that servers make you download but hardly ever get used unless an admin wants to mess with someone.

Oh and PTB autobalance is nice, the same with ATAC for team-attack/killing. And there's a mod that will slay if you don't accomplish objective. And another for if your team goes on a losing streak it'll give you money (and more money for a longer losing streak). That's good for pubs, since that way it won't stay USP vs AK or glock vs M4 for nine rounds.

But yeah, even without all that extra stuff, the best is admin_vote_whatever. Especially kick, and especially when anyone on the server can do it. It'd be really nice if on any given server, the majority could kick whoever they didn't want (like an AFK, a hacker, someone incredibly annoying, spawn campers, awp whores...)
