Nicely done article and interview, rizzuh. :) Now time for the quotefest...
You know, when I first saw that, for a second I thought rizzuh was up to his old photoshopping tricks, trying to put some sort of golden Q3 rocket launcher in as a prank, but then the obvious struck me.
Good call. :) My main concern, though, is with wondering whether I'll have to endure loud looping sounds for the 15 seconds in between fully connecting to a server and actually making it to the MOTD screen. On the other hand, maybe my old computer just sucks, and the new one won't have that problem.
So long as you're into making comparisons, consider the fact that the original CS beta didn't come out before Half-Life was available in stores. The whole comparison between the original CS betas and the CS:S beta is pretty weak, this certainly doesn't ruin any "tradition" in existence.
Yeah, the little tweaks are kind of cool. I've been loving the new hostage AI and now the improved grenades...
In most cases it's fairly difficult to identify normal maps and specularity from screenshots, compared to when everything is in motion and you get to see the same surface from varying views. They could easily be in there without you noticing.
Hmm, maybe you should coin that term, lol.
Glad to see your priorities are in order...? :P
Beautiful.
i'm glad they aren't just catering to the whiny competive players-- I like my maps with plenty of ambience, it really livens up the environment. Not to say that the pro players aren't important, but the way they play shouldn't dictate the game for the rest of the public. It was whining by public idiots that had the awp toned down; the door should swing both ways, rather than valve pandering to the johnny-come-latelys on the steampowered.com forums
