Did you use custom skins/models with a self-installer? Those sometimes have cheats embedded in them.



Sadly, I trust the VAC system to legitimately find cheats, but it's possible that one snuck into your system without your knowledge.



Regarding FPS drops in 1.6, I'm betting it's due to the extra CPU demands made by Steam. I pull 98-99 FPS easily with an Athlon 2600+ and a Radeon 8500 le.

hrmm...there have been numerous changes to cs 1.6 since its inception. When vavle seemse to be happy w/ it they shut down WON, were we some sort of unofficial 1.6 beta guinea pigs? :p

the servers that cliffe is talking about is the ones Valve owns



Just before 1.5 Valve bought the WON servers that they use, those are the ones that are being shutdown, all other WON games will still work because they arent being shutdown, only the ones that Valve owns

the front page is pissing me off... whenever i log in i have to scroll down a whole page just to read the news... it doesnt happen on any other page cept the front, and my friend doesnt seem to have that problem. the menus and top pictures stay but the WHOLE blue part with words is down a page. I run an AMD Athlon 1.3 ghz, Geforce4 MX420, 256 ddram on 800x600 resolution and I get 100 fps almost totally steady. So yea, something is probably wrong with your comp and not 1.6.
