Power ownage of AMD 64 bit 3400+ on my laptop I'm getting yeppie. Intel P4 2.8Ghz Prescott OverClocked to 3.9-4.1Ghz most of the time :) So I really have always like AMD for server work and rendering and other stuff, and now the 64 bit AMD are awsome, and the Intel Xeons that are 64 bit, WOW, can you say, 20 CS 32 man server on one computer with the power of those 64 bits, o yeah. So I really don't care which is better. I like Intel for gaming, just because it runs a little cooler you know. But AMD is great at the same, I'm not going to say anything that one or the other is better, I just think Intel good for gaming AMD good for running servers for long times for the power and money :) Also Intel is just a little slow at getting things out, but AMD might sometimes be too quick with problems. But both are great stuff. Can't wait to test some OCage with HL2 and CS:S.

I got an intel 2.5 for a six pack of beer from a friend when my old AMD went down so at the moment I'm using intel, but I've always preferred AMD.

AMD doesn't currently have one, but the closest would be a 64 bit AMD 3400+, please correct me if I'm wrong :) I havn't seen any 3500+ or stuff. I bet you could get a 3400+ 64-bit with the water cooling or really expensive nice cooling system for it and OC to a 3.0Ghz or close around then :)



I can't wait to try some HL 2 with my new laptop coming July 21 :) Great deal @ Best Buy for my 64 AMD 3400+, god I can't stop drulling @ the images, costom built for me ^^ Was too lazy to build myself, and have it blow up on me. But AMD is going to be awsome, would like to see some true Intel 64 bit for desktops, not the xeons.

i think he meant "which amd chip has the PERFORMANCE equivalent of a 3ghz pentium". rather than internal clock speed differences. cpus should be measured in flops, not those silly ghz things.

Yeah, ok, that why I didn't really say anything to bash or sound stupid :) yeah all good. Too bad the 3400+ don't really mean 3.4Ghz that would be pretty cool lol. But go AMD.



O yeah my Laptop was made by Microsoft w00t w00t, if that ever happened that would be the end of the world if Microsoft started making Laptops, Computer, Computer\Laptop parts and stuff, HAHA. Go Microsoft's Processor that will never come out :)
