LOL, this won't make me buy CZ.

I will never buy it, I don't care when CS Source will come out, it doesn't look that great anyway.

I've been playing CS for close to 5 years now. I, like the rest of you have enjoyed free updates, maps, etc when most game companies never give updates. I had no problem buying CZ when it came out. I feel Valve deserves some of my money. In return, I got better graphics, more maps, better sounds and the bots are great. Even the hosties are entertaining now. Seems the only ones bitching about Valve are the ones who never pay for anything in the first place whether it's games, CD's, movies or anything else. Any update that will be done, no matter how good will piss some little script kiddie off somewhere.

While I haven't been pleased with everything Valve has done, I think most everything they have done in the last 5 years has been positive. You can't please everyone....you can just try and please most of them. I think they have....otherwise it wouldn't be the number 1 online game and wouldn't have so many passionate viewpoints on every little thing.

I'm looking forward to CS:S and I tip my hat to Valve for ignoring the whiny brats over the years and continuing to support and update their releases all this time. If you don't like CS or CZ, then get lost. I'm sure Quake and Halo is still out there waiting for you and the rest of us won't miss your whiny-assed, mis-spelling, cussing teen aged brat attitudes.

It's also going to be available via "Cybercafe Partners"..are there some cybercafe's that aren't partners..or will all cybercafe's with steam/cs etc. be getting the free beta? and if only some..is there a list?
The Cybercafé "partners" are those who have signed up for Valve's official cybercafé program, which unfortunately not all cybercafé owners are registered for.

Edit: I should note that Valve considers cafés running Valve products not under the program to be breaking the law, and these establishments are being sent cease and desist orders.

Also, it seems a list of participating cafés may be in the works (if I interpreted that post correctly) but no such list currently exists.

So if BETA starts later this summer. How long is the BETA? Few weeks, months?? HL2 might be ship with the BETA.

CSS + later this summer + BETA into final version = HL2 around 200x?
          What is late summer?
we are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August
So the BETA will only be a few weeks?

              I would hope so.

Since the Source engine was used in HL2, they've hopefully caught all the bugs and whatnot independently. I'd imagine the beta for CS Source will mostly be to examine the new gameplay under the engine, and figure out which objects on maps should be moveable, destructible, and the like.

the reason the CS community has such an entitlement attitude is becausethe vast majority of them are too young to earn, or have their own money. therefore, when something new comes out that they have to (gasp) pay for, and their parents refuse, they get pissed off.

I bought CZ last night, was going to buy it for a while then a few friends got it, and now this, it pushed me over the edge, that and the cheap price and delivery i got for it too! I admit i orginally didn't buy cz because i thought the game would be poor and i was disapointed with the delays, and the fake gone gold. Eventually i lost interest. Still, i never laughed at anyone who did buy it, and don't feel that im foolish for buying hte game later than most.

At least now i can play it untill hl2 and this beta comes out :)

Shuzer, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the amenities this site has to offer (and my only reason for coming here):

                              http://www.csnation.net/skins/browse_skins.php

Here you will find models that put those seen so far in CS:S to shame. I have not one original model left and the graphics are wide fucking open resolution-wise. Hell, even the chicken has been replaced. With 3ghz and a bitchin video card, I have it to burn. Total cost for replacing everything with super-high poly models? $0. Not a dime.
personally, I wouldn't use any of those custom models just for one reason... none of them are under the same consistency. each models are different in style.. this has always been a problem for all those custom model packs released... none of them seem to stay under one consistent style... some may look super-photo realistic.. some may not. this is why I don't use custom models.

Adding to this I just hate the whole realism thing going on for some of the custom models.. I mean.. I know the ejection port on the guns are wrong when you're right handed.. but come on! with the correct ejector port, the shells would be coming out of no where! Sorry.. but that is even more annoying than all the mishap in realism seen on the def models combined.

And please... CS:S models are good enough.. if you don't like them, it's all fine with me. I'm sure there would be custom ones available when it's released. (I personally wouldn't change any of my defaults.. for custom ones would only ruin the original style and looks of the game. oh .. and I love how you can already judge the quality of the models seen "SO FAR" in CS:S just by looking at some blurry/low quality videos and screenshots while you haven't even actually played the game)

BTW.. read the developer's description on CS and see how they don't state it would feature "super-realistic graphics"? That's right.. it wasn't meant to look pretty.. so if you're trying to play this game solely for its looks.. then you're playing the wrong one.
