I'm so suprised to see the "Targeting this Fall realease" thingy. I'm not angry at Valve, but I'm a bit angry at Vivendi! I hope Vivendi wont wait for September - December. Because I always wanted to play this game. And I wanted to play Half-Life 2 during this Summer holidays! I'm still a student, I don't have enough money to just buy as many games as I want during this Summer while waiting for Half-Life 2. Right now, I'm saving my money just for Half-Life 2! My school start in September, and I hate it 'cause I'll have a lot of homework to do and I will have no time to play the game! Like you CSN staff, you guys aren't really worry about this, 'cause you guys are adult, and have your own money and you're running a Half-Life fansite! You guys have a lot of free times when the game is out! So that's why you guys are pissed with the anti-Valve comment! But I'm not pissed of Valve, they're not lying to us, they still going to finish the game this Summer. But I'm worried about Vivendi that's all! Please, for pity's sake Vivendi and Valve!

ID software has a policy of saying "when it's done.".. they dont say they have a definite date and not even tell the public that it hasnt come out yet until after the fact. I'm thinking valve didnt say that they wouldnt make the sept 30 deadline because of their deal with ATI. If they said earlier that they couldnt make the deadline, the current generation cards would be deemed useless (even with the HL2 coupon). Who would buy a card now when they knew it would come out later... At the same price in the future, one could buy a way better card. Even on the ATI site they were promoting HL2 like it was about to come out.... If this was the case, i think they made a moral mistake and it makes me sick.
Someone had better call in the army to bring this guy down, I think he's been pushed over the edge.
Rizzuh, your entire post is 100% right. Looking at some of the greatest game developers, they routinely miss projected release dates, and their products are better because of it. Blizzard is springing easily to mind, as in my opinion they and Valve are the leaders of the pack when it comes to game quality. I also admire Irrational's "say nothing" approach. They've been nearly completely silent on the progress of Freedom Force 2.
I propose that CS-Nation becomes a proactive force in rectifying this situation. Don't post any more release date info until you can safely post, "Half-Life 2 Released."Comment

LOL! Valve does not know game quality! Valve's idea of game quality was their initial release of CZ (Yes, we've all tried to forget it...).

All Valve knows is rhetoric! The original HL2 release date was"Summer 03", but then some hackers exploited Valve's stupidity. The hackers told the CS community how much of HL2 was really done, and the HL2 date was pushed to "Winter 03". Then came "Jan 04", "Feb 04", "Spring 04", "Summer 04", and now "Fall 04".
The truly sad thing about this is that Valve has had the money, the fanbase (most popular online multiplayer game), and the time (HL was released in 1998) to create an awesome sequel to the original (that was released over 6 years ago). But instead they have chosen to piss off the gaming community with broken promises and inferior graphics (Doom 3 and Unreal Engine 3 look unbelievably better). And don't even get me started about steam...Comment

yep another realease date set.... this is where everyone gets their flipping hopes up and Valve once again screws us over. I remember watching the trailers they had and they had the damn release date set last fall.... something like Sept. 30th. Well that came and went and the whole time from there on out they give us these little teasers and say it is coming soon just wait. With only words.... only words.... God I hope I am all wrong with this. I am about 50/50 on it even being released at all. God I hope I am wrong.
I like how they say "CONFIRMED:HL2 THIS FALL!"
Doug Lombardi said: "we're hoping to see the product on store shelves this fall but we do NOT have a confirmed ship date at this time."
edit: If you are not sure of a release date then don't fucking post a news thing.... Jesus Christ Zips if the release date is not offical... then don't say anything.... all this is just bullshit gosip... I take none of this seriously.Comment

Well, I don't believe this untill they say the exact date! Not the word "Fall"! They always mean at the end of a season! Like they said, "We're targeting to finish Half-Life 2 this summer". What they mean is, at the end of Summer and at the beggining of Fall! Don't just tell us this b***s**t if you guys aren't sure!Comment

Some of you guys are a trip. Half-Life Source and Half-Life Radio have reported this news for the past 2 weeks. They just confirmed it with Doug Lombardi and now people like, "wait, they didn't say FALL!" and splitting words.
Doug Lombardi was quoted on Half-Life Radio that the game would be on store shelves by the fall. What part of that do SOME OF YOU not understand? Good grief!

Activision, Atari, EA, Red Storm, Eidos, Io Interactive, and NovaLogic. Sure, not everyone of those companies has a perfect track record with release dates, but if you ask me, it's a lot better than Valve. Some say Half-Life 2's been delayed only once, but who cares if the delay is over year (I knowit hasn't been a year yet)? All right rizzuh, you win. That's what you wanted, right? Ok, now tell me why you asked for a PC developer.Comment
