anyways... if you buy HL2 you can acess all the language versions. In germany however, the CD you buy there will be censored so the robots will be there in all versions, or you just get the German one.

the german CD key will still be valid, so they dont even need to use the CD, just i already own this game and input the key and then they will probably download the english version (that is if they have the english version of steam)

This is the exact opposite to what Gabe said. He referred to those changes in the original Half-Life and the news was that this wouldn't be necessary for HL2.

In the original Half-Life, the German version (which also was used by some other countries with similar content restrictions) was modified to replace human opponents with robots, gibs were replaced with machine bits, blood was replaced with oil, and so on.



It looks like with Half-Life 2 we will only be changing some of the aspects of impacts (e.g. blood decals) to be approved. This is good news.

No, actually Gabe said that the game should be finished in August; he said that he doesn't expect the game to be released in August -- that's up to Viviendi. But you can expect HL2 to be out by the beginning--middle of September depending on the time that Valve gives them the gold disc. You might expect it to be on Steam before then aswell. Remember, it takes a good 2 weeks to do production of a game as long as all the artwork on the boxes and other things inside the boxes are done.

An August 3rd release was recently announced for Doom 3, so I wouldn't be surprised if HL2 was pushed back to holiday time '04/'05. HL2 is gonna be a cash cow either way, but just look at what Vivendi did with CZ.
