I haven't followed the game's progression much, but I really hope Doom 3 has some sort of multiplayer aspect that is popular, because otherwise I can imagine piracy ripping up their sales very badly. Single-player games seem to get the hardest by piracy, for the obvious reasons. HL2 will likely get pirated some for the SP, but ultimately nearly everyone wants to play the mods online, so there's no point in not owning a legal copy.

Yeah, I never understood the rage from people who said they were forced to download CS:CZ when it was available for preloading... it's not like there was no option for turning it off, which of course I quickly did. :)
The only people who pre-loaded or loaded CG were those who right clicked on the icon and chose to.
One criticism of that system, though... the process of taking a CD installation and converting it to a Steam installation is a rather terrible process. It would be nice if you could pop the CD in the drive, and have Steam pull it all from there in the first place, or just be able to do a normal installation that Steam would be able to use straight from the CD. As it is, you've got to have quite a lot of available HD space for it to make a duplicate copy, instead of simply moving the files over and then updating them. But I digress...Comment

You're right, by the time HL2 is released there will be a whole new generation of kiddies to whine about the game. I guess I meant the complaints about HL2's delays will stop, but good point nonetheless.Comment

So far, Half-Life Source has been right on predictions. That quote from Gabe Newell regarding the "August" handover to Vivendi is still nothing new and without a confirmed release date -- I am not believing anything.
Just last week both Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi was on Half-Life Radio and they said "end of summer". Now they say, "August". Still, we have NO RELEASE DATE and until we do... everything they say in my book ain't gonna happen.
So far, I have to agree with Half-Life Source that this game isn't coming out before October 1st.Comment
