Half-Life 2 Nearly Finished?

Gabe said they are anticipating to deliver the game to get it published. I'd imagine they're in feature lock now to test for bugs (and the occasional gameplay tweak like the weapon selection portion of the HUD) and hope to finish by the end of August. At E3, HL-Radio did an interview with Gabe which pretty much stated that the game was in place, and they were just doing gameplay tweaks and playtesting. That would indicate they're near completion.



Still, I agree, I'm personally shooting for the original release date, one year later. We'll see what happens, but it's not like I'm going to be crushed if they don't make it. Because hey, I still love CS, and I'm still going to be playing it even after HL2 comes out. I will be waiting on picking up a new vid card until HL2 is released, though. :)

Note that VALVe has not promised to have this game in your hands in August. They haven't even promised to have it in Vivendi's hands in August. This is not a promise, it's merely what they're shooting for, so do us all a favor and don't yell "BUT THOSE EVIL LIARS PROMISED!!!111" if you're not playing it on Aug 1. Thanks.

Maybe they dont mean that for sure. but valve is never sure of anything, and its not like theyve never lied before, or tricked us, or scammed us..u dont always have to stick up for them just cuz they are why this site is here =/

About the whole "Codename Gordon" reaching the 600,000 gamers downloads and all. Steam forces the preload on everyone - of course 600,000 people are going to download it. Most of which did try and play it, but found it was just a 50mb flash game instead.



For some reason I actually thought that they were making a real game out of it; but now when I first saw all the horrible lag problems on a 2ghz machine with 1gb of ram - I understood it was a flash game.

He also said that in PC Zone a few months ago when they got an exclusive playtest.



BUT. I'll believe it when I see it. If they do hit august it will be interesting to see which comes out top in the charts: Doom 3 or Half Life 2

If gamers actually understood what it took to create a largescale computer program they would stfu. VALVe under-estimates the time it takes but that doesn't make them suck - that makes then like every other computer programmer in the world.



And HL gamers are DAMN spoiled! You guys get all kinds of stuff from Valve. We are still getting CS updates, CZ was released and lots of missions are being released by the community, and we get a HL2 leak and some info from VALVe every now and then... think of people who are waiting in anticipation for Duke Forever!!!!! Brats!
