NoA and Midway Pro Mode Interview

NoA has a short, yet substantial interview with Shagrath and Midway from GotFrag. For this time around, the main focus here is "whether or not the game needs to change to allow for the sport to keep going" and addresses the said question in a variety of ways.
Shagrath: Do you think Valve should go for more precise hitboxes, such as ones shaped finely around the edges of the models?

Midway: Valve won't support this unless it becomes very popular, they gain nothing from this and its similar to a new mod being made for HL.
As admitted, this may not be the longest interview to be conducted, so click here for a quick read.

I've had it up to here with this "Pro Mode" crap. Just make an AMX plug-in for all your "l337" Pros only servers.

      Agreed.

This is basically just whining that you want it a different way then the way it currenty is, which is like whining that you want old 1.3 running.

Pros only? It'll be the other way around. :\

it wasn't shaGuar who did the interview.

            it was shagrath, a newsposter @ teamnoa.net

lol. Shaguar had nothing to do with this interview. Read it a bit more closely, dude :)

Promode won't gain enough support to move it into the mainstream of CS. Valve is the controlling and conniving lord of this game, and there's really nothing we can do about it. Want to make a whole seperate mod for HL that's like CS? Do it.

Oh wait - they did. Twice.

                Just not gonna happen, guys.

hmmmmmm i wonder when they will actually listen to the majority of players who are not pro or not even cal about the changes they think need to be made instead of listening to the elite cpl guys who think they have the right to shape the game because they are better at cs than the majority. Just because they play better, it doesn't neccesarily mean they have better ideas of what the game should be like. Im gettin kinda sick of the soon to be cpl shaped cs scene.

pro mode would be so pointless.. just fkn adapt and get over it. only things worth mentioning are the increase in speed of walking along with the awp having the same delay as all the other weapons.. what makes people cheer and really get into the game as spectators? action-packed situations where it is do-or-die. what you rather see.. 1 guy walking around for a minute and a half in complete silence picking off 5 other guys, or 1 guy mowing down 5 guys in a hail of controlled spray and lightning-fast movements? think about it.

bunch of delays that have hindered this: forcing people to stand still while defusing/planting, weapon switch delays, landing-after-jump run/walk delays, strafe-walking speed decrease. i'm sure theres more but those are the ones that stand out and visibily slow down the game the most.

Obviously it would be best to see the community focused, I think the good from a promod like this is there but it really has to be done for the right reasons and completely supported by the professional gamers.
who gives half a s**t about the professionals, they are the minority of counter-strike players, i really can't see how they should have the final say/even have a say in the matter.

Can you not see it? Most people will follow what the professionals do. They're like a high school "trend", most people follow the trend of doing what they do, but not everyone.

#10: personally, the picking-off is cooler, to me. Takes more skill, planning, and intelligence.
