agreed, not to mention slowing down servers.
i hope valve will lock down all server operations for HL2 to stop crap like amx/adminmod/metamod etc from ever being created for it.

I personally would much rather play on a server that has no mods on it. The mods cause choke, and in worse cases lag. Its a shame that its so hard to come by decent pub servers that arent bogged down with tons of things I find to be a nuisance. I dont like seeing stats or flashy text scrolling across my screen when I'm trying to use it to aim.Comment

Yeah I could care less if they don't cause lag. I get annoyed when every time I kill someone I have to hear ULTRAKILLLLLLL!! and see admins having a conversation with scrolling flashing text right above my cross hair. Same with announcements. Seems every server has got the www.stupidclan.net scrolling across the screen ever 2 minutes. Why can't the just put that in the pop up page when you join a server?
Then when you hop on a server with really retarded admins who telelport you around or turn you into a chicken or even change your config it's a wonder anybody who plays this game thought these mod were a good idea. I really wish there was a way to see what mods are running and more important what powers the admins have.Comment

Yes i agree #19/#20, sometimes the mods can help, when they are minimal. like /rank an /stats me, maybe occasionally, but like when u have that thing RIGHT below ur crosshair that says how many ppl on ur team u shot/killed an all that, wow thats annoying, samething with everytime u get a hs, HEAD SHOT, HUMILIATION, =( i just changed those sounds to nothing so when i get a hs, nothing happensComment

Though, AMXX no longer requires nor needs MetaMod, etc.And before you think it, AMXX even now (0.16) has not ever once given me a problem, nor any of my clients. And this is without multi threading, JIT, a new PM module, and the lack of MetaMod.
Here is this mention of no Metamod again. AMXx 0.16 certainly does require MM. As for 0.20, well that requires it too (though I asked to be sure since I know little about 0.20). Maybe you should do *your* research a little better.
http://130.215.31.29/forums/viewtopic.php?p=21635#21635And, 64FPS is not possible (rathr anything higher) unless you disable ACPI, etc. and use a higher ticrate.
Or use HLbooster?we have nothing but (currently) two 2.8F xeons with a minimum of registered 2GB DDR, SCSI raid 1//1. ... the 10 servers we run per machine , even full, hardly gets touched resource wise. This is based off of 16 player "pubs" and a mix of 12 player "privates".
So you have somewhere around 140 active players in your server? I call shenanigans. You're getting performance I have only heard about from other people who don't back up their claims. Prove it. I want to see screen shots, mrtg graphs, something. I want to see 140 active players on your single box.seeing as linux wasn't even around at the time of the netcode
Huh? It's been around much longer than HL fella. And, if you do it right, you CAN get somthing for "nothing", as nearly all the time one of my machines in question here is running full load at 58-70% CPU usage, on one affinity. If I use multi-threaded projects.. .the effect is barely even noticeable.
I know what affinity means, but not the way you use it. Maybe you mean that load based on "single threaded app's"? But anyway, I look forward to seeing your performance proof.Comment
