Is the ping difference in LAN's really worth all of the hassle of getting to one?

Yeah, its BYOC.... I'm UT2k4 tourney director for massive lan.... and as far as security we are having 2 MARINES working the doors, and we are using id bracelets and picture ID of the stuff you bring in so thats the only stuff that you leave with.... don't worry about security! :)

Its going to be kick ass! Huge prizes, Huge sponsors, WCGUSA qualifying event.... Yeah we know its during CPL but this is for people who can't afford to go to CPL or want an alternative....

how can they call a 300 people lan Massive? Sounds like a miniLAN to me, being used to having ~300 people lans nearly every other weekend in Denmark all highlighting into The Party after Christmas with 4500 people..

Mitsulan is the biggest :) http://www.mitsulan.com/ being hold by a guy from TW and if he pulls it off it will be the largest LAN in history. 5,000 gamers, 160,000 sq feet, 250,000$ in prizes. Being held in San Diego and costs 100$ to attend but 100$ is well worth it to see such an amzing thing. I'll be in Central US for a vacation then otherwise I'd go. As of right now it looks like it has no chance of happening but if enough register it will happen. I know the guy.

Multiplay has a few 600-1000 man LANs each year in the UK and has done for a while now.

Strange a 300 LAN is the biggest yet for NY.. But explanation could be that the USA doesn't seem have the same 'big' LAN culture as several European countries.. Overhere in the Netherlands we also have several LANs that are 1000+ gamers aswell for many years now.. Next one is Netgamez 2004B (4-6 June), and I'll be there.. :)
