    Half-Life 2 Analysis

Gamers.nu has posted a new article covering Half-Life 2. Although the majority of the article essentially covers the recent E3 showing, this read will whet your appetite regardless of that fact.
Half-Life changed my life, to a sort of half-life (sorry). The influence that this game has had upon my life and so many of our lives is phenomenal. For many it has caused them to fail exams, miss out on promotions, and lose girlfriends, whilst for others it has opened the door to a dream adventure of travelling to the far corners of the globe, being mobbed by fans, for being good at a modification of a game. Then there are the profiteers, entrepreneurs, those that found a method of making money out of this fledgling community. They launched server companies, organised tournaments, wrote about events, sold 'inside' team information, and even trained others people to be good players.
In addition to an in-depth coverage of HL2 is a nice helping of Counter-Strike Source. While no new information is included, the article addresses how "major changes in game play would disrupt our delicate equilibrium as the tops teams/players have to adapt to the new game". Interested? Then read all about it!

No matter how good Counter-Strike:Source will be, there will still be people whining about it, proving that they do not have the brainpower to deal with change.

Of course there will be. In any game no matter what it is there will always be a critic or someone who can't play with the new updates.

The great thing about CS Source is that the aim of the update is only to improve physics and graphics. Now, naturally, physics will have some notable impact on gameplay, but when I speak to Valve employees they seem set on not only maintaining the strong CS gameplay, but also keeping a similar "feel" to the controls.

That last line "So I hear there's a new Doom coming out". Damn right there is, and I'm going to love the hell out of it, just like HL-2, because *gasp* I'm not a newbie who thinks that just because a game has the latest in graphics technology that it's going to be the best thing ever. I don't care if a game has the graphics tech of a fucking NES game, if it's fun, I'd drop money down to enjoy it.

I say both, but cs 'classic' will die like 1.5.

today only 15k players were on WON at the same time Steam had 109,000+.

And there'll also be some CS1 whiners who will love CS:Source instead. It should balance out.
