Spanking New HL2 Footage

Valve have released new footage of HL2 in preparation for the E3 Gaming Expo. At the moment, Half-Life2.net is doing a great job of hosting this file, but IGN have also put it up in different formats.



This movie shows City 17, the Eastern European metropolis which provides the backdrop for some of HL2's action. With nearly 100% previously unseen footage, this is a must-see for those interested in Half-Life 2.



The video shows combine soldiers, a strider and of course the lovely (not real! not real!) Alyx, as well as some action sequences involving interesting physics interaction. Once again, get it at Half-Life2.net

I don't know what's up with the quality of it though, it's very bright and didn't show as much shadows as I hoped.

But, a very good and interesting video to hold me over until they release this beast.

The best part of the video was when they were walking down the interrogation rooms and the guard bangs on the metal door.

I downloaded it and didn't see any spanking. False advertising!



I actually like the way they're using the large video screens in City 17... anything that makes the world around me seem more dynamic and changing is a good thing, as opposed to the still, lifeless maps we've become so accustomed to.



Also, it amused me that the headcrabbed guy kicking the barrel hit another guy in the back, deflecting it from Gordon. :) That SMG he's using against the gunship has waaaay too much recoil though, heh. Overall, nice short clips, though... don't really give away much, but show a good bit of what the game will look like.
