it's steam based now and actually popular since its only 100mb where as before you had to install half-life from the cd and then update to 1.3.

It has always been able to be played since it uses it as a 3rd party game, you can play all cs versions on steam since you can install to the HL directory.

That's not a mod that's an old version of the game ported to steam. CS-Nation only supports the latest version of CS.

isn't cs classic basically the same thing? cs-nation posted news about it, but it basically is the beta ported to steam.

Not quite, CS Classic is a combination of different betas.
