GriffinRUN in Atlanta + 30% Off

Robert of GriffinRUN.com sent me a press release about their new server location in Atlanta and a new deal for 30% off public servers that meet certain requirements.
GriffinRUN.com, the leader in low ping game server hosting, is proud to announce the launch of our 5th nationwide location in Atlanta, Georgia. This follows the recent successful launch of Chicago, Illinois. Atlanta and Chicago both launched exclusively with dual 3.2 GHz Xeon servers with up to 4 GB of RAM and Ultra 320 15,000 RPM SCSI hard drives capable of 320 MB/s data transfer. Combine our bleeding fast hardware with 7 major backbones including UUNET utilizing third party fastest-route technology, and GriffinRUN will deliver the lowest possible ping to the broadest number of players.

To celebrate our expansion, for a limited time only we are offering two special 30% off coupons for public servers: Use "lowping16" and you can order a 16 player Public server at any of our 5 locations for less than $120 / month*, or use "lowping20" and get a 20 player Public server for less than $150 / month*.

*Price is without regard to setup fee; web hosting not included; discount ongoing through renewal.

There has never been a better time to order a low ping GriffinRUN Public game server!
GriffinRUN has hosted my clan's server for a while now, and I must say I quite enjoy the service!

If I had the cash, I'd go for this. It'd be awesome to have a GR server in my home town and get like....2 ping.

Dark Angel, you're about the 10000000th person to notice that and post about it. Approximately.

Sure it does. When your game server is running on a machine with 5+ other game servers that others are renting, that drive/transfer rate sure is nice when one of the other servers on the machine changes maps and hogs all the I/O from that single 5400rmp Maxtor that you might think is good to have in there. To slow of drive(s) causes your server to basiclly pause till the map changes for the other games.

that is why good server companies don't run 6 or so game servers on the same machine. You would notice a huge drop in performance.

Don't kid yourself, all companies stuff servers full of clients. The good ones have enough hardware to handle that load.

Yupper......multiple hard disks (5 or more) in a RAID 5 array (Hardware RAID...not crappy Software RAID). This array gives you a lot of the speed of RAID 0 but it also includes parity information so you have fault tolerance if one drive should happen to fail. Or you can be a really good hosting company and use RAID 1+0 (not RAID 0+1).

if you actually read it, it says less than $150. Then if you went to the site and priced out a 16 person public cs server with that coupon code you would see that if you paid for 6 months in advance its $102 a month.

yea but 5 or 6? that seems like a bit too many :\ , they probably be running other things such as hltv, vent, ftp, etc. But wouldn't you be able to notice if they were running multiple dedicated servers on one machine by looking at the port numbers used? for instance if your server is running on 27017, instead of the normal 27015.
