Also, I am disappointed that Valve / TRS neglected the Assassination scenario, which is, IMO, pretty under-appreciated. Valve needs to make some more official as_ maps.

Yay! I personally like CZ a lot.[UD]BBG wrote..
I believe Terrorist missions were probably excluded as a matter of politics and to keep a constant game theme. Selling a game that encourages terrorist (particularly when one model an quite arab) to kill counter-terrorists, particularly in the current climate, is a risky one.
The updated maps are pretty damn good, in fact, I think Valve should remake the rest of the original maps and release a pack. The updated maps, however, are not worth the $30 price tag, and neither is the action. The bots aren't that great and there is no Terrorist SP missions, which, IMO, was a huge mistake on the part of Valve and Turtle Rock Studios.
As for the other CS maps, most of the source for them has vanished as far as I know. Given the CZ timeframe for the updated maps, I'm not sure rebuilding them from scratch would have been possible. If they had been there would probably be more people complaining about lack of new content...Comment

I strongly believe that your wrong. about 2 years ago, i discussed a topic just like this about how old the hl engine really is. So i decided to do some research. In the end i found out that HL's engine is about (or was about) 60% ID's technology. Valve basically made better textures, better effects, Better AI, and maps. Most of the code was kept from the other engine's made by ID. Therefore HL's engine would have to be considered about 8 years old because its using 8 year old technology.
Erm...its the HL engine. And it was created by valve. and it has been the HL engine ever since its release in 1998. yes valve did get some inspiration to their coding from ID, but the end result is the HL engine. and its not 5 years old, the last time it was updated was around a year or less ago (1998 - ver 1.0.0.0; 2004 - 1.1.1.1).
Im sure i kept my research on a cd. Ill go look for it later on.
Of course though valve over updates, made it more of there engine. One major update i can remember was the time when all the mods didnt work because of some reason. Valve drastically changed the net code, vgui, and a hole bunch of other things. Today, HL's engine is maybe 20% or less of ID's technology. But i know for a fact that it was once basically a heavily modified Quake 1 mod.
If im wrong please prove it, for i dont want to carry false information about this topic.Comment

what I think of CZ. I think its a waste of money. I think its better to play CS then to ever play CZ. I would have to say all they did was re-texture maps, use the same character models in CS, created Bots that R indeed more intelligent then Podbot or Realbot, but still nothing that amazing. I just didnt see much of anything change.
This game has been in the making for 3 years now? After beating it on easy mode, and you win that MS paint medal, I kinda gave up on the game. Some nice improvements on the engine overall though.Comment

You are right WooFerPPK. If he wants he can search the net anywhere for the info. google half-life quake and you'll see. Here's some examples:
"half-life::
One of the many upcoming games using the quake engine, Half-life is being created by Valve software, and will be published by Sierra. Half-life will sport an enhanced engine, better AI and puzzles. should be released 1st quarter 1998. check out jaspur's half-life page. more half-life info at QNG..."

Yep AMD Rules! One of our reps at work gave me a P4 2.5ghz and I traded it for a new mobo and ram. Thanks Intel!
Wow i should hunt you down and decapitate you you intel suckup... AMD > Intel Anyday...
AMD processors use less cycles but have more power than a pentium pos processor. AMD 1.8ghz is better than a pentium 4 2.5... i have tested many diferent processors, overclocked amds and overclocked pentiums... amd processors always win out in graphics and pc benchmarking... Take your head out of your ass man!

Now about CZ. It's ok but the game world has passed it by with the likes of Call of Duty, Battlefield Vietnam. Even the freebie Americas Army is getting quite a draw. I really expected more from CZ than I got. Thought everyone would switch to CZ and leave 1.6 behind. All thats happened is the gaming community is leaving CS and CZ behind.appended @ [time="1082501589"]
One other point I almost forgot! The lag issue with CS and CZ unless you have a incredibly fast internet connection the lag is horrible. I have yet to experience these issues with Battlefield Vietnam, Americas Army and Call of Duty. I firmly believe the programming is tight with the latter 3 games. Just my opinion.Comment

It's worth it ($30 - Asia-Pacific edition). Besides, i don't have a non-steam 1.6 w/ the new bots. The letdown is that the manual should have been, at least, more detailed. ie: How do i use the new/revised console commands, cvars, and command line options. I'll leave the Steam issues out, since I am still playing solo for now. ;-)Comment
