really it just gets to me that people moan there arse off about steam and updates and stuff, when vavle are trying to make the experiene better for us by updating and creating new things for absolutly free.

i would challenge those who are anti steam to name one other game that has been supported for so long free of charge.

on that basis, i think we can forgive valve if steam is a little ropey now and then

I agree with Branagan to a certain extent. Not to say I like or dislike steam, but I purchased Counter-Strike retail for about $50AU and have got years of fun out of the game and they've kept updating it etc. and never given up. I'm a satisfied customer.

If I could never play the game again I'd still say I got my moneys worth, but then again, and I'll probably and I'll still be playing the game for at least until the next one comes out, maybe longer.

Edit: BTW a few people have mentioned CS2 is there anything to suggest there will be a CS2 (other than the success of CS1 obviously), or are you guys just assumiong there will be one? I take it that this CS2 will be a Counter-Strike mod for Half-Life 2?

Like all of our games, we will update CZ.
Sweet. Please add new MP weapons, new MP models and some MP mission varients to distinguish the MP play from 1.6 =)

I think Gooseman said he was working on it in some interview at some time, and yes based on the HL2 Source engine. Also ATI are packaging it with their new cards according to this "news source": http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14979

Can i remind you that cliff is the one who gave you hours and hours of fun playing a free game? Devellop it in its free time...

he deserves more respect than that, dont you think so ?
I am sure Cliffe is living quite comfortably without my respect. And I will show support for Valve by purchasing HL2. maybe

I am just saying that CZ is nothing new and not worth my money. They should just update CS with the new stuff. Why make people play on a different server just for some new models and maps?

And as for VAC, you have to admit it doesn't get updated often enough. Not even close to enough. When Valve said no to Punkbuster, they said they could handle cheat protection themselves by updating so often, that the cheat writers would get sick of updating the cheats.

          It hasn't happened.

Pitty, because punkbuster is a jolly good program. Play any other game that uses it, and there are very very few working cheats.
