    New C4 Timer Feature

Cliffe needs your help! The CS Team is currently awaiting feedback on a possible new feature for the C4 timer. This feature is basically a new "digital clock readout", so anybody has the ability to read the C4 timer actually ticking down. The following are just a few of Cliffe's thoughts on this possible new feature:
    a. Bad idea because...... CT player has a fair amount of uncertainty when the bomb is planted with the decision whether to defuse the bomb or get the hell out of there. There are times when the CT is next to the bomb and must make a very tough choice whether to defuse or not. It can be argued that this is one of the more dramatic and tense moments in CS. While seeing the bomb timer on the planted bomb is cool eye candy, it may make these dramatic uncertain situations into a scientific "the bomb goes off in x seconds and it takes me x seconds to defuse, therefor I choose to a. jet b. defuse." Situations where the CT is tool late and it explodes as he is defusing and everyone goes "ooooohhhh!!" are pretty cool.

    b. Good idea because... Seeing the timer on the bomb would be pretty sweeet and really wouldn't have much of an effect on gameplay and the players decision to defuse or run.
Again, the CS Team wants your take on this situation for a possible new feature for the C4 timer. You may take a side from the stated choices of either a or b, and simply back up that decision. Should you have some good opinions of your own, feel free to share them willingly.

I think this is a silly idea. I really dislike alot of these new features which are being added. Simply because of the fact that it's becoming more "newbie" friendly.

Adding this will pretty much take out the experience factor which many players have. The experienced ones can usually guess, on the fly, whether or not they are going to have a chance.

    My answer: Bad idea.

You can tell by the speed of the Beeps if you have time to diffuse the bomb, OK so only players that have played before know this, but it does not take long to learn.

I don't think it will make any difference.

        Bad idea!

Sn00py, you cannot tell the exact time left before the C4 explodes by listening to the beeps alone!

This sounds like a great idea but I'm puzzle as to how they would implement it, would it be via attachment (how in the heck that would be done is beyond me) or adding "X" amount of animations for a count down sequence etc....

I like the idea, it should make me, the money hording fanatic know whether I should keep my weapon and run or just defuse.

Great idea I like it a lot!

I play on a server with a 35 second timer. 10 seconds to defuse, 5 wit kit.

A little digital countdown really wouldn't make a difference either way, aside from improving the gameplay in most servers where defusing the bomb comes second.

Put it in, I doubt a CT has the time to look at the timer. (+ the bomb is kinda small, so can you see it at all?)

Also, the beep sound already is like a timer, you know that when it's going to beep faster, you must run like hell! So people saying; CT get an advantage, put on your sound while playing :P

Most pubs have that damn voice countdown anyway, so it wouldn't matter much. If you've played enough, you can tell how much time you have left by the speed of the beeping from the C4.

I'd love to know why they're decreasing the learning curve for CS even more now, I've been playing since January 2001, and I have to say, I'm somewhat amazed to see there's still people playing for the first time, but making the game easier to learn now is sort of pointless.

Wonder when the changes to the Para are coming... I'm definitely dreading that one.

There's a lot more tension when you don't know how long's left. It wouldn't be as exciting with a countdown. Seems like some resources aren't being as targetting as well as they could be.

rofl xtrmntr, i am really really really really fearing the para changes, before you know it, every noob will have amassed $16000, and start chasing us around the map :-(

maybe we should run while we can

i've got a nice little hiding place, fancy joining me ;D

quit making shots more and more random and have it actually hit where my crosshair is and maybe I'll actually play it again. Everytime I stop playing DoD to give CS a shot again, I get ticked off right away because my shots aren't going where I'm aiming. Ever since 1.6 final it's been that way, and that's why I quit playing CS in the first place. It started getting that way before 1.6, but 1.6 was the biggest leap in randomness. At least in 1.5 you could still actually be good with the M4A1, sniping AWPers on aztec, etc. Impossible to do now, unless it was a random hit.
